Do you match your jewelry to your bag's hardware?

once in a while i do check my own outfit to make sure i match, but that is only me and my OCD too....cowbelle you can always turn the bag towards you so the hardware does not show when you wear your gold...but if i were you i might hold out for the right bag with the GH, they do actually pop up when you least expect it :smile:

^^I agree with Kellybag...I once thought that the metals had to "go", but you should purchase each piece whether handbags, jewelry to buttons on a coat by whether the piece looks good with the chosen color of the metal. For example, I love the stainless steel Rolex since it is more understated than gold and also I love the Cartier Tank watch in gold because it's so classic in gold. My H bags that I really love and use have gold hardware and I know that works for me whether I wear platinum jewelry or not.
Matching can look boring and look like you really tried hard to make things "go"...if you know what I mean.

It's just personal preferance. I'm not a "matchy" person. I don't ever wear the earring-bracelet set...so of course, I couldn't care less if the hardware matches whatever jewelry I have on. But, if it bothers you...it's too big of an investment. Hold out for what you really want.

I have been told by Hermes staff that although PHW has been the fashion for a long time now, GHW is slowly coming back in. I saw a 35cm Birkin in Epson with GHW last weekend at the Gold Coast (Australia) and am still thinking about it ... they do exist!

Eventually the one you want will come your way. If it's Hermes you shouldn't really compromise.

I have been told very strongly by a staff member at Fauborg St Honore that Etoupe does NOT come EVER with GHW, only PHW, because gold looks "ugly" with Etoupe. This is sad because IMO it's a divine combination - my mother had a gold hermes watch that I made her put an etoupe band on, and she feels bad now wearing it because of the "ugly' remark from the SA.

There was the most beautiful Kelly 35cm in Etoupe CHEVRE(!!!) - in short my abosulute dream bag - but the PHW was not to my taste even though the rest of the bag was perfection - especially the spine. couldn't buy it because it would annoy me too much that is wasn't what I wanted.

Ergo, I think they should match your jewellery. I have a lot of silver hardware bags that annoy me. So tragic that LV have gone over to silver on their epi line making it more casual looking - now I have to collect vintage pieces with GHW!

I Personally would like the hardware to match I am a silver fan I only wear one ring not a jewellery fan

But my kellys are gold hardware so I just try not to think about it

I mean brown goes so well with black and it shouldnt really but it does

Interesting. I am a bit surprised that an SA would be so...blunt, for lack of a better word. I can see how in some bags Etoupe could work with GHW.

Mix 'em, I always say! Why not? The only thing I try to match is my belt buckle to my bag hardware and that's only because of the size of the buckle on the Constance.

I really think it depends on the size and style of the jewelry as well. If it's big chunks of gold, especially 22k or 24k gold since they are much yellower, it'd be more of an issue.

That being said, I'm like RC too. Really prefer not to mix. I have all white gold jewelry and I have refused to buy shoes with gold-toned hardware for years, some of them beautiful beautiful shoes. I could cry.

THANK YOU all so much for helping me! You guys are so generous with your time and talents. It makes me feel better about the world knowing that there are still helpful, gracious people in it. I am going to hold out for gold hardware because I am a yellow gold type of girl!!

Lovehermes, I also have the gold tank watch. I have it in the men's size b/c I think it rocks to have an oversized gold watch! I love this watch and I think it deserves matching gold hardware.

I am going to wait for palladium as I do wear so much more silver much to the horror of the leather specialist in Bond Street
She says gold looks much much better

I only wear white metals.Except for a watch band with both white and yellow metal that ties the gold in, so as long as I throw that on I feel like I can wear either hardware on bags!

Although after actually typing that, it kinda feels a little silly, but it's true...
