Do You Have Any Idea What Will Happen To Dooney Prices?

I wish I had a finance background. Do you think prices will increase on D&B items from overseas?
Yes, I do. The company that imports goods into the US is responsible for paying tariffs
before the goods can enter the country. I don't think Dooney, or any other company will
be able to absorb the level of tariffs we are seeing. So, the prices of the items will
increase. And I suspect the sales won't be as good, except where they need to move out
old inventory to bring in cash. And I think this will be the pattern for most companies.

Depending upon where the handbags are manufactured, we may see more of certain
styles, if the tariffs relating to those countries are lower. That is assuming that
the manufacturing plans can be altered.

I wish Dooney continued to make more handbags in the USA. But to reinvigorate the
USA product takes time, money, and properly trained work force. I don't know if Dooney
has enough handbag production capability left in the US.

everything is going up except 401ksand the stock market..... I found a cutie on the second hand market. I'll post when it arrives. I'm excited for this Florentine beauty that's calling my name

Congrats about your find. Yes, I think I won't look at the 401K for a bit.

I hope Dooney does alright. They made it through Covid. I hope this second hit doesn't bring too many changes to the company. Fingers crossed my favorite bags from Italy do okay.

Truthfully, I spent too much money this month on clothing and handbags. I shouldn't be buying but I am curious about prices the next few months on bags.

Sound financial advice is to save our pennies, as the future economic situation
is uncertain (at best) and probably much more costly.
But the handbag collector in use makes us want to get those treasures at
what might be the best prices we will see for a while.
It's a constant struggle.

Somehow, shopping our closets isn't as much fun as buying new handbags.
But somewhere along the line, the stress factor of the economic chaos we
are seeing, will make the comfort of our closet seem really wonderful....
as long as we don't calculate the investment we made in those bags in the past.
Remember, you can't go back, but you can move forward and do things
differently (if that's what you choose).

Since Dooney is a private company, as customers, we have no visibility into
it's financial situation or organization. I've wondered over the past few years
how active Peter Dooney (and any of the 'older' members of the management
and design team) have remained. We can only judge by the products, prices,
marketing, and market placement (dept. stores, outlets, boutiques, online, etc.) we see.

I wish the company lots of success. And I'd be happy to buy more
Made in USA bags from Dooney. I have always valued these in my collection.
It's the heritage of a high quality product. But I'd rather see Dooney go there because
it's part of a sound strategy, versus as a reaction to economic chaos and
pressing financial issues.

Good advice. I am thinking of selling some bags that just sit. I get stressed when when my collection is too big. Perhaps the second hand market will do better with people trying to get bargains.

Why isn't shopping our closet fun? It should be, we loved the items enough to make the purchase and bought them to wear. Yes, wear and not stare at them in our closet.

I keep trying to make myself wear a new, or fairly new little worn item, instead of frequently reaching for an old standby. I wore a new pair of FRAME jeans ($238.00 and purchased on sale for $60 something. The jeans made me look fat. Not a great purchase, but I carried my florentine Stanwich satchel and still enjoy this D&B bag.

Some people love to wear new items.... they cut the tags and put the new things on
immediately. I tend to age new items. I don't want to ruin them, so I save them.
(Not smart). Also, with new items I'm not sure how they will function and feel.
Will the pants be too big or too tight, will the handbag be hard to get into or too heavy?
There is a comfort in the items I use often. And, I don't have to think too hard about
how to coordinate the outfit and handbag.

I'm trying to do better, and use my newer things. After all, I have a bunch of them
and they get old, before they are used.
