I kind of worry that the GH will look dated much faster than bags with the normal hardware. I am starting to really like the idea of a work or brief with gold hardware but am kind of worried about their timelessness.

I think it depends on if you care about trends. If I like a bag then I will get it (provided that I can afford it) whether or not it is "in" style. For me what is in style is what I like.

i don't know if the bags will look dated but you might get tired of the look -- it is pretty bling. the reason i love bbags is for the amazing leather and colors, and because they're lightweight and the traditional hardware is understated (i don't like big shiny hardware on any bag) -- so the gh defeats the purpose for me. but if it adds something that you like and you're not just drawn to it because of the novelty then don't worry about trends and follow your heart!

I think that the giant hardware (in either gold or the rumored silver) will look more dated in a year or so. I don't think they'll become a consistant part of the Balenciaga line. Maybe that will make them more collectible down the line, a limited release of sorts - but way too trendy for me.

What I love about Balenciaga is it's classic, yet modern look.

I really don't think the GH will stand the test of time.

I don't think it is too trendy at all. To me it feels like classic Balenciaga but updated and dressier. I think there's room for both in a wardrobe.

I don't think it will be dated any faster than "big brass padlocks" (Chloe) or "big gold chains" (Marc). Any element of a Handbag has the ability to look dated if you are chasing the NEXT new thing.

I for one tend to mix silver, gold, new, vintage, classic and then mix something "a little new" so for me it really fits my style.

I think the kind of woman who would purchase GH probably has a very distinct style, knows herself and probably doesn't care whether it is trendy or not.

I think it depends on what you like too. Although because the GH is so noticeable it may become dated in the sense that everyone knows it's 2007. But who knows... if Balenciaga continues to create GH bags and if they continue the trend of recycling colours again and again.. then it will be less likely to be dated as easily.

Personally.. at first I wasn't a fan except the pictures I saw of the white giant brief.. but after seeing Nanaz's Cafe Day... oh my! LOVE!! I just hope they're still available when I can afford them!

I'm not sure. I think on the new style Hobo that is a pretty classic look. I worry that the bright gold will tarnish or begin to look dull and I'm not sure how that will look. I can't see it being a good thing.

i think GH in the bigger styles, such as the brief, weekender... even the work and day, will look classic.

Also, the more neutral a color the longer it will remain classic. I can see a marine, cafe, or naturale colored bbag with GH outlasting one in vert deau, vermillion, etc
