Apart from last year when my SO gave me a present to celebrate my b-day (which was it, no other aspect of celebration as I specifically told him I didn't want to do anything), I have never celebrated my birthday personally. It was always just a part of an office birthday celebration, which seems mandatory for some effin' reason, or school event- also mandatory. Don't they ask you first? I guess not.

Do you find your birthday a celebratory event or not?

yes i do now. as i grew up in a religious family that didn't celebrate them, so the first 25 yrs of my life they were just another day with my mom saying something like "on this day, 17 yrs ago i was in labor with you for 12 hrs" so now i have children that make me cards and a cake and i blow out those candles and i LOVE it!!

I haven't celebrated my bday since I turned 21. It's just another day. Hubby takes me out to dinner, but that's it.

It really is just another day to me as well.

I've always celebrated my birthday and this year will be no different than all the years before

That's cool. Do you do the whole nine yards of decorating, birthday cake, presents, etc.?

How sweet. I grew up in a family that paid no attention whatsoever to celebrating birthdays along with all the federal holidays. My mother suggested a few times, but since I wasn't enthusiastic about it, she did not follow through.

i go on a trip every year on my birthday, in order to avoid having/attending a party (^(oo)^)

I have to say that this would be the best excuse for me. I do love to travel and am really not big at all on parties.

Yep - I celebrate my b-days. Sometimes I'm surprised and other times its something we've planned. One year my partner planned dinner/drinks with 12 of my closest friends at a cabaret review. We had big fun that night! Another year she paid for a girls weekend in Dallas w/one of my bffs. Every year it's something different. My partner is creative and thoughtful and that's really what I appreciate so much.

I have only had 1 party in my adult life ~ my 25th birthday party which was casino themed.

My birthday was last month and I didn't do anything really, went shopping with hubby and had dinner with him and close friends and family who came over from SD.
