Do you carry a smaller bag in your tote bag?

No, I don't see any point to carry 2 bags one in another. I do that only when I'm travelling and the smaller one is an expensive one - obviously I don't want to put in my check-in luggage. But if the big bag don't have enough pockets, I organize everything in small pouches, if they can be considered as small bags... But sometimes I carry a belt bag and a bigger one.

Only when traveling and the smaller bag is always in its dust bag.

One larger bag as a carry-on personal item in addition to a 19" or 21" Delsey hard-side suitcase:
  • Longchamp large Le Pliage in bilberry (~2-week short trip)
  • Anello black faux leather backpack (~3-weeks longer trip)
One smaller bag to nest inside:
  • See by Chloe Hana crossbody
  • MCM medium beige shoulder bag
  • Foley + Corinna Lady
  • Chanel lambskin classic flap with GHW
  • Marc Jacobs Snapshot
The smaller bag depends on the trip vibe. If I have fancy dinners and shows planned, then I'd probably pack a casual crossbody for day and the Chanel or Marc Jacobs for night. I've just gotten a mini Loewe puzzle so I can see that bag becoming my smaller bag for a lot of trips. Either way, two of my golden travel rules:
  • No checked bags*
  • Only easily wipe-able bags as a personal item b/c they usually end up underneath the seat in front of me
*Unless I'm on my way back and had an unexpectedly exciting shopping spree—my first trip to Japan was one of those exceptions lol!

@t1221 @ladysarah Thank you so much! All these pieces have a special place in my heart and have been with me around the world and back. I'm especially surprised the fuchsia Foley + Corrina still looks so good after weathering a winter in Helsinki, Tallinn, and Amsterdam and living in Florida. The leather is so smooth and aged very well. She was originally supposed to be in ecru but Neiman Marcus had a mix-up and she arrived in fuchsia. Then, the color grew on me.

The 3 series Chanel lambskin also turned out to be a trooper. I was scared at first but then I realized I can buff out almost anything out of this vintage lambskin and it bounces back just as supple, soft, and shiny.

See by Chloé Hana goatskin crossbody is also so very hardwearing. I also have the See by Chloé Harriet large hobo in nubuck (not pictured) and it's just as hardwearing as the goatskin. See By Chloé is definitely a great brand to have on hand for travel for its hardwearing leather and variety of styles at a contemporary designer price point.

I'd love to hear: Which brands surprised anyone else as excellent travel underdogs in terms if style and hardwearing materials.
