Do women still carry clutches ?

I got a Coach wristlet for christmas a year ago and I had the intention of carrying it into clubs, using it for grocery shopping etc...
I never used it for such and it now holds my feminine hygene products and lip gloss :suspiciou
When the LV MC Shirley came out I found it extremely elegant and I pictured myself using it for weddings, cocktail parties etc....
I did no such thing and instead I keep the strap on it and use it for short trips around town :shame:

I carried one for prom, it was just a little black satin clutch that I got at Annie Sez because I realized last-minute that my digital camera wouldn't fit into the beaded one that I was going to carry. I did use the beaded one for my Sweet 16, it was my grandma's. I like them, they're very classy and look better than a shoulder bag if you're going somewhere fancy.
