Do Tiffany's stores order items they don't have in store?

Hey guys, I hope someone can help me answer the question! I'm planning on going to the Tiffany's store this weekend to buy something that is available online right now. However, I was wondering if every Tiffany store stocks everything they have online at the moment, and if not, can they order them from the store to be picked up from the store? I would just order online, but my boyfriend who is getting it has an aversion to purchasing things online, and I'd also like to get it engraved with more than the 3 characters allowed online. If anyone has had any experience with this, please let me know! Thanks!
 
My experience couple years ago, they will bring in items for you to consider without obligation to buy if the item costs more than $5000. However, if it costs less, you have to actually purchase the item for them to ship to store or your house. If you change your mind when you see the item, you can always return it.
 
Yes. I just ordered something that is neither online nor in the store, but they had a few left in stock. As for a manager to help you as sometimes salespeople either don't have the ability or knowledge to help.

I have an excellent SA in the Stanford Center store. I once asked her to get several pieces for me to look at. They were not especially expensive. I live several hours away so only go into the store every few months. I frequently call her and she happily sends me what I need. If they don't have the item in her store, she finds it in another store and has it sent to me. If you are going to shop at TCO regularly, I'd recommend that you find an SA you like and develop a relationship with him/her. That way you can also email your SA if you decide after hours you want something and they will ship it to you the following day.
 
I'm looking to buy the mini double heart Return to Tiffany pendant, but my local Tiffany is small, so I was guessing they might not have it. I'm glad to hear they can order to the store! I will stop by this weekend for sure. Thanks everyone!

I am only guessing about other stores, but at the Stanford Center store they always have a large selection of the most popular pieces, especially those with the Tiffany & Co engraving on them. I think the sell a lot of those for gifts and for impulse purchases.
 
At our store they do.
I was interested in a necklace from the Cat Island collection which they did not have
in, so they looked it up and found it at another store.
They ordered it for me without any obligations, even ordered a second piece
from another collection I was also interested in so that I could compare both.
They said it would take approx. 2 week, it took only 4 days until they called
to say it's in.
In the end I took only one necklace and it was all fine.
 
Yes I recently had to order something they did not have in stock. Plus, they threw in free two day shipping. I had it shipped to the store so we could discuss engraving it. It was more than three letters, they were very helpful and accommodating.

You were right! They had it in store. I had it hand engraved though, so a new one was ordered from NYC. I've attached some pictures of what my boyfriend got for me, and I'm happy with everything! They have such lovely service at Tiffany.
