I called local store and LV customer service, they all claim that they don’t participate Massachusetts tax-free weekend. One lady over Boston Saks even said that we are luxury brands, you know, we don’t participate that. I ask her when you collect tax, are you going to keep it as an additional profit for LV? Given that Massachusetts will not take it. Do they understand that the tax-free weekend is a state law, not a sale event. So nothing to do with whether you are luxury or not. From some point, this brand has many ugly designs and the SA are rude and arrogant. As a fan who has had more than 30 LVs, I think that I am done with this brand.

I didn't know this was a thing (I am from Europe). I did some research, and I am not surprised that they are not super up to date about the conditions. I guess both the CS and store associates will know a lot more by the 11th.
I believe if you go there on the 12th, (or shop at their website), the tax thing will be handled automatically. Vuitton finance has very little to do with the store and CS people, and since this is a cash register setting administered by the HQ, it will just happen according to state law, no matter what they say.

Tax free holiday in MA applies only to goods under $2,500. But LV has lots of items that should qualify for tax-free. I have made purchases at Hermes Boston that qualified for tax free (a few years ago). I was also living in MA at the time, but not sure that matters.

I'm not sure about Massachusetts, but other states that participate in tax free days limit the amount a product can cost to be tax exempt, and luxury items are usually excluded from the tax free event.

That's how it is in my home state and the surrounding metro areas - luxury items are not included... it's mostly back-to-school items and energy-efficient appliances. But it looks like the state of MA doesn't exclude luxury, as long as it's under $2500.

OP, I'd check back closer to the actual date. It's possible that the advisor you spoke with didn't fully understand the law.

I know this is a few weeks too late, but this is so opposite my experience. And must have been frustrating for you!I went to the Natick, MA LV store on tax free weekend and the greeter asked me if I was there to shop tax free weekend. Since I was, the person helping me made sure I understood the price limits. I’m sorry you had such terrible customer service!
