SOOOO....after much deliberation (and feedback from the stylish ladies here on Coach)...I found this piece, new to Coach.

Way back, I saw this tote in the men's section and fell in love with it -- the Bleecker Day Tote in Bar Stripe Leather for men in the royal and cadet blue stripes.

But at $698, it was way too expensive, a bit TOO masculine, and way too huge. But I adored the pieced and sewn stripes together, and thought it was just really cool. I asked at the time if it came in any smaller pieces, and at the time (a few months back), it hadn't. Yesteryday, I found this: the "Bleecker Portfolio in Mixed Bar Stripe Leather." (style 68925), in the same royal/cadet blue stripes I loved (with black leather stripes at the bottom).

So I was looking at it and holding it and I was thinking, "Could I make this work as a bag for ME?" And then I simply folded it over and held it like a clutch. It looked good. Really good. Cool, edgy, a bit androgynous, which I love, and a freaking great price (with the 25% PCE, it came to $213.56 including tax).

I put my stuff in it to see how much it could hold and then fold over nicely, and it holds quite a bit -- a large (flat) Reed Krakoff clutch/case, keys, phone, small wallet/cardcase, a mirror compact, and a couple other small things. I folded it over and it still worked. The manager/my SA was impressed and said to go for it. So I did. I can't wait to use it.

So I made a clutch out of a "man bag/portfolio" :p. It's awesome. The leather is gorgeous and very well done.

I'm attaching a mod shot but do not let the paisley blouse and baggy jeans fool you: I actually plan to wear this with something that matches the stripes. Also, excuse the mess in the background.

Thanks for letting me share!!! I've attached pics of everything. :D

What a fantastic idea…looks great!!! :smile1:

What a great idea! I've loved those stripes too and wished they made something for women in them, or at least a smaller bag I could carry. Is it difficult getting it to fold in the same place every time?
