Do imperfections bother you?

So just bought a JUC ring with diamonds and the back of the nail head has a really small dent/mark in it. It’s pretty small - size of a pin but I can see it and now can’t unsee it if you know what I mean.
Would this bother you? Shall I go and get it exchanged? Am I expecting too much?

Go exchange it if it’s within the policy! You need to be happy with your purchase. Just look over your new ring carefully in the store before you complete the exchange.

I think it would bother most of us here. You should do what makes you happy

i tend never to return anything. But, I inspect pretty carefully IRL. I don‘t order expensive items without trying them on in person, so I know my pieces aren’t dinged though.

It's totally ok to exchange. It's supposedly brand new so the expectation can be called for.
I can sense to certain degree you're bothered so why not exchange it. It's a big ticket item, if it helps to "justify".
Just don't wear it anymore, before the exchange, so that it may not suffer any little scratches.

It would probably bother me but also likely one of those things that would appear in a couple weeks of regular wear. That said, I’m a believer these pieces should start out pristine.

Thanks for all your responses. I wish I was more relaxed about these things but I can’t help myself….
It’s such a tiny mark and makes no difference when wearing but it still bugs me. No issues whatsoever if I make a dent/scratch etc which I have on my existing Cartier jewellery.
Anyway, my DH did an exchange for me today and my new ring is perfect. I can rest easy now haha

I'm okay with imperfections, but not defects. That's a defect. Happy to hear you exchanged and got a new perfect piece.

My love came with a scratch near the screw. At first I was disappointed but then I realized the first of the damage was done and it wasn’t me! I know I would have been mad at myself over the first scratch. Now it’s full of them. For me, it made wearing it and not worrying about it easier.

If I bought it brand new, I don't expect or accept damage or defects, especially if they bother me.
If I damaged it myself, well, that's on me!

They must have noticed the dent and hoped you won't mind it. If it bothers you bring it back let it be a display piece at their store!

YES! But with supply issues due to Covid and other hassles I have lowered my standards slightly. I do know what you mean about not being able to unsee it; in fact it sometimes gets more glaring when you are trying to forget about it. That's why I won't keep something at these price points unless it's perfect. Having shared that I did see a tiny scratch on a necklace that was only noticeable with my magnifying glass and I totally forgot about it (obviously I haven't, ha!) and I kept it.
