Hello all,

I would like your opinion and advice on my situation. I’m sorry for this long message.

I went to Hawaii for vacation back in November 2019 and met a wonder SA there. She offered me Constance 24 at the time, but I turned it down because I didn’t like the color.

Fast forward to June-July 2020 during COVID where we were all in lock down. She contacted me and mention that they are able to ship items to our home. I live in San Francisco. I got really lucky and she offered me a Kelly 28 -which is my first quota bag. I was in shock and was so happy! I kept contact with her and bought small items the next few months. Unfortunately, she contacted me in December to let me know that she can no longer ship items to my house because Hawaii is open for tourists again. I am so upset because I built a great relationship with her.

My birthday is coming up in February. My husband is willing to buy me a birkin bag if I can get one. Due to COVID, we will not go to Hawaii for a very long time.

I went to SF store (my local store) before Christmas and met a very nice SA. I told her that I wanted to birkin bag for my birthday (I know it was bold but my husband told me it doesn’t hurt to ask). She looked at my profile and said that since I already got a quota bag from the SA in Hawaii, it shows that my home store is in Hawaii. It maybe be better to buy from her. If not, I will need to build my profile and it will take a very long time. Also, She suggested that I could start a profile for my husband and use his account to build up a profile to get offered a Birkin.

So my question is- what would you do? Would you wait to go back to Hawaii, which I am not sure when I would be able to travel there again? Or would you start a relationship with my local store in SF? If I start going to SF, would you buy from your account (showing my previous purchases) or should I open a new profile for your husband? I am sad that I may need to spend more in SF to show my loyalty.

I’m sorry this is so long, but I hope you all can give some good advice. I love the Hermes brand and want to keep building my collection.

Thank you in advance!

I mean, it seems like your decision is somewhat made for you. You can wait until whenever and hope that HI has something for you when you can eventually travel there again or start a new profile with your local store. You’d likely have to spend more in HI anyway if you’ve only been “making small purchases” there anyway so I see no harm in starting a separate profile in SF and spending there instead. Your HI profile will do you no good in SF, but will hurt your HI standing if you shop on it in SF, so I would start a new one in SF to try for the B in the near term and then play it by ear at the point when traveling to HI realistic again (decide at that point if you want to maintain two profiles, etc). Good luck.

Thank you so much for your response and input!

When you say two profiles, do you mean to avoid shopping under ones name at both? And starting a second profile under a different name, like my DH?
Sorry I’m wondering because I started a relationship with a SA in Vegas (not my home city) and am visiting Hawaii this year - and wanted to try for a b:k but do not want to affected my Vegas relationship (flying to LV is easier than Hawaii for me)

H is so strict with shipping quota bags. I have the same issue that I am 5 hrs flight away from my home store, but I just stuck with it since direct flights are not that expensive for me at this point.

Over the years, I have profiles from SF and Vegas. I have purchased quota bags from both locations. I am very fortunate to have an SA that understands that people travel. I would recommend that you regularly make contact with your SA in SF to build your relationship.

If you bought the Kelly you were offered in June/July and asked for a Birkin in December you would not have been allowed to buy another quota bag in that half-year.
As you had been patronising a store in another country, I can understand why your geographically local store would be less sympathetic to your special request and more likely to apply its guidelines to encourage and reward loyal local customers.

It is possible to buy 2 quota within a semester now. It's just within calendar year vs. half year/semester. I purchased 2 quota myself in first half of last year, but it seems OP here has a bit more of an extenuating circumstance in that they might want to shop at a different store vs. the original one that gave quota bag. I don't have experience in that regard but won't comment other than its possible to get 2 quota within half year.

Yes, indeed.

Thank you for clarifying that.
