I am short (5ft give or take). I do love to wear maxi skirts, but many times even the petite ones or two long. I just end up hiking my skirt up under my top and sometimes really high. Problem solved. Does anybody else deal with this in this manner?

Same except I have tailoring at home (my mom)!I’m petite and have items tailored if they don’t fit.
Yes, midis are maxis on me lolMaxi dresses are my jam! But I am also petite and have to have most most items professionally hemmed/tailored as well. Sometimes I can wear tall enough shoes but often times, even the highest of heels doesn't work that well. Also tricky is that sometimes i want to be able to wear garments with both heels or flats. I have noticed lately a number of longer dresses I am able to get by with wearing flats unaltered, but I suspect maybe its because the dress isn't necessarily intended to be a maxi but more of a tea length lol
Good skill to know when you are short.I simply buy regular length skirts and then they fit me as maxi skirts.
Otherwise I hem my skirts. I have a couple beach-type maxi skirts I roll up at the waist because they have a design that wouldn't look good hemmed. But that's a kludge solution. So I hem. My mom taught me how to do it properly when I was a kid. She was short too. We had a hem marking device and would take turns hemming our skirts and slacks.
Even if you don't know how to hem or don't own a machine, you could totally handsew the bottom and make the fix yourself!Good skill to know when you are short.![]()
I just saw your quote by Dave Barry. This is soooo meeeeee.I simply buy regular length skirts and then they fit me as maxi skirts.

You don't even have to hand sew. There's iron-on fusible hemming tape that one can simply iron into place.Even if you don't know how to hem or don't own a machine, you could totally handsew the bottom and make the fix yourself!
Thanks. This may be another option for me with maxi skirts. I will try that. I am tired of hiking up high. It is not visible but feels a bit awkward. I love maxi skirts, but the length doesn't like me sometimes. You don't even have to hand sew. There's iron-on fusible hemming tape that one can simply iron into place.

You want to make the hem as lightweight as possible. That means cutting off or taking down the old hem. The new hem shouldn't be more than 2" wide. A ruler, iron and a chunk of soap to mark the fabric are all you need.
