Do any of you sell your bags due to aged vachetta?

I have a perfectly good Neverfull MM in Mono that I love but the vachetta is now very caramel colored and even has very dark brown areas at the very top of the handle. For this reason, I am constantly wondering if I should sell it and get a brand new one but I am torn because it is otherwise in good condition and it is much more expensive now than when I bought mine and would only be able to sell it for maybe a third of the price of a new one. If I wanted a different style I would probably have sold it already but I really want the same bag so it seems sort of silly. I don't think the very dark areas are dirt (and I would be scared to try to clean it anyways). Do any of you sell your bags when the vachetta gets dark/spotty? How dark does it have to get before you sell? Thanks for your help!

Have you considered having the leather replaced? If the canvas is still in good condition, it would be much less than buying a new bag. I guess over the years I rotated my bags too much for the vachetta to get too dark. However I have sold because I wanted a different bag. If it were stained or dark I would have LV replace the leather. Being able to get repairs through LV is one if the good things about the company, in my opinion.

True, I always thought it was cost prohibitive to change all of the vachetta and that it would make more sense financially just to buy a new one, but I guess I should check. Anyone know the cost offhand? It would have to be the straps and all of the trim. Thanks!

You could ask in this thread or read the latest answers. With the price of a new one at $1540, anything less is a win, lol.

I was at the store the other day and someone was getting their NF returned after getting new vachetta and the bag looked brand new. It was beautiful!! So if you like still like the bag, (which, in my opinion, everyone needs a NF as a workhorse) replace the leather. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

I just got my Neverfull PM back yesterday with new vachetta. It's beautiful. There is information in a repairs thread on this. The only trouble i had was a higher quote in store than thru customer service.

I actually don't particularly like new vachetta. I always look forward to my bags developing a nice patina. I have enough bags in my collection that I can rotate them, and none has ever reached the stage of being that extremely dark, almost black that I've seen on some bags for sale on eBay. (I don't know how long this takes or if it's more of a care issue!) If that ever happened, I'd have to look into getting the leather replaced, but I don't really mind a couple of uneven spots or even the odd little water mark, it just adds character and makes the bag mine!
