Hello,
I thought I'd share my DIY on this MICHAEL Michael Kors Saffiano Crossbody. I had my eye on this to use as an everyday wallet but I did not like the fact that the chain shoulder strap could not be removed! Thus...
I did a DIY. Hope this is somewhat helpful
PS: I don't have photos before the DIY
Breakdown:
-It has 8 credit card slots, 3 compartments - 1 which has a zip for coins
-It's quite roomy, you can fit an iPhone, small chapstick whilst having cards, money, etc.
-It has a chain shoulder strap which you cannot remove [DIY!]
-I paid $149 CAD on sale from $175 CAD. I know it's hard to find the price on this in CAD.
-I also used a clear divider and cut it into the size of the zip compartment so my coins wouldn't get dirty! I got this idea from a member who did something similar [I can't remember their username] in the zip compartment. Brilliant idea - thank you!
Steps:
1) Remove one link on each side, remove the link that is closest to the d-ring looking bit. You'll need pliers [x2] to separate the link and a very strong person! The links are extremely hard to bend [at least for me] - my dad took the links out for me.
2) Purchase jump rings [x2] and lobster claws [x2]. I purchased it from Michael's.
3) Open the jump ring with pliers, add it to the D-link, followed by the lobster claw, then attach to the chain portion of the shoulder strap and close the jump rings with the pliers.
4) Then you'll have a functional crossbody and wallet! Plus, you can also use this as a wristlet! In picture number 5, I used a chain link bracelet and it turned into a wristlet 3 different functional ways!
Tip: Use tape to wrap the d-ring and surrounding links, otherwise they will get severely scratched.
Thank you for letting me share and thanks to xm3lodyx for answering all my ?'s!
I also purchased the matching business card holder for $68 CAD. It has 1 large compartment plus 3 little slots.
