I bought a Mackage Melanie puffer Jacket 4 days ago and realized that their jacket is Made in China. The tag was sewn behind the neckline and didn't noticed a very tiny sewn tag made in Canada . Every year I buy their jackets and have tags on it that was made in Canada. I didn't get what I paid for.

Too late to return the jacket as I pulled out the tag and wore it. The quality is very unsatisfactory compare to the jacket I bought that was made in Canada.

I was about to buy the Joey jacket, but found it cheaply made and just realized that it was now made in China.

I would not question the price of Soia & Kyo because they are made in China. Not with Mackage brand, so I will never buy Mackage jacket for $$$ made in China.

Mackage- like Mike & Chris & Rebecca Minkoff have all been made in China for a while now
And were all once Made in the US or in Mackage's case Canada

RM said that the cost became too much for them (especially given the economy) plus they needed to expand- So I can only assume the same for Mackage

I personally dont believe that just because a product is made in a specific region or by a particular people- that it then automatically means that the quality is lesser than.

If that was the case then a lot of the high end designers wouldn't be able to sell their products- Especially not at their price range.:graucho:

So maybe it's just that one style thats not up to par like sarasmith3269 said *wishful thinking*..... Maybe it's just their puffer type of material jackets that arent as great.

In general a lot Mid/High end designers make their products from places where their is a lower cost factor. I believe MIU MIU is made in Turkey.
I remember that there was a thread regarding this same topic-
(thoughts on whether or not place of production of a product weigh in on your final decision for purchase.) .

Some people felt as though they shouldnt pay that much if the cost of labor is low. Which I could definitely understand  Especially when the same designers were elevating their prices at the same time. I guess it's just up to the individual and their personal preferences : )

Did you feel as though the quality was bad before you checked the Made in China tag?
Or do you feel as though where it was made influenced your opinion?

I'm just asking because you said that you had already removed the tags and even wore it, so it seems to me as thought you must've been happy with it.

If so maybe the jacket isnt bad it's just that your upset with where it's made. I hope that the jacket grows on you- it sucks to not be happy with a purchase.

You can try their sister company Soia & Kyo, though it is also made in China, the prices are reasonable for Wool and other jackets. Its good if you wait until they have on sale but that will be for a while until the winter is over.
