Today I was looking for a card holder. I looked at Dior and Céline. I found that the Lady Dior patent calfskin card holder’s stitching was pretty bad quality (close to $500 with taxes here). The end of the thread was not well sewn. I went to YSL, and their card holders were better made and less expensive.

I have a black Lady Dior pebbled calfskin wallet that I bought years ago. I bought it for $600 something. It’s an actual wallet, not a card holder. The quality was much better, and I still use it to this day. Did you find that Dior’s small leather goods aren’t as well made as before?

What you observed today is perhaps an exception. I don't think we should judge the quality of the products of a brand from one observation alone. If you looked at several of the same card holder and they all had the same problem, then maybe we're onto something here.

If you look at the YSL forum, there is a thread devoted to quality problems which is quite long. Neither brand is immune to quality issues. Brands like Chanel and LV also have quality problems from time to time, but this does not mean that they generally have poor quality. People make fewer threads or posts about how great quality is compared to threads complaining about a brand, so these posts misrepresent the quality of a brand.

The decision to buy from a brand is yours. If seeing a stitching problem on one cardholder is evidence that a brand's quality is on decline, then you can choose not to buy from the brand.

I choose to continue buying from Dior because their quality has been good in my experience so far.

Hi Dior experts,
Can anyone share the wear and tear review on dior oblique canvas quality? New to dior, love their oblique range but not buying yet as there don't seem to be much reviews or info on Dior Oblique

Dior Oblique tapestry has been around for decades. Vintage bags with the tapestry from decades ago show some stains (like any canvas has the potential to absorb stains) and some fraying where it is rubbed vigorously. These are normal, and in my experience, the extent of fraying is a lot less than brands like Gucci's older logo canvas, or Burberry's plaid woven canvas. Even denim starts to dray and form holes where it is rubbed, and denim is a strong material.

If you generally take good care of your bags, then your Oblique piece will look amazing with no fraying for years.

I have a dior card holder that I purchased 6ish months ago and the quality is great. And I'm super careless with it. It's a little stretched out from too many cards but otherwise great condition

I ended up getting my card holder from YSL. But, I do own a Dior wallet that I bought over 3 years ago. It's holding up really well, except some tiny hairline scratches on the inside. Glad to hear that your Dior card holder is holding up well :).

I have to agree with the original poster - in some instances, Dior SLGs have not been fantastic quality (at least recently). For example, I received a Dior WOC as a gift about a year ago. The stitching was not great, the leather wasn't that puffy, and the alignment of the top flap was askew. The metal attachments on the inside have already started wearing off (and I've only used this item 3-4 times total). Given this experience, I'm personally not interested in purchasing SLGs from Dior. I'm not sure if quality was better before, but quality currently is not amazing.

Good to know that I am not the only one who had this experience. Unfortunately, with the recent quality, I am not going to pay the current price.

I have several WOCs. One bought more than 5 yrs ago and still looks like new. I think their quality is very good though I would avoid patent leather as I don’t baby my stuff and my patent leather SLGs get damaged after a while.
