I have/had the prada diaper bag. I wanted something that wasn't logo heavy. It was black and classy with just one simple logo. There wasn't alot to choose from as far as luxury diaper bags back in 2015. I think it was between gucci and prada back then.
My boys are now 6 and 3. I don't use a diaper bag anymore but here are life lessons.
1) backpacks are the best. Practically, they all have the same function but backpacks are easier on the back and easier to carry around. Everyone kept telling me that but I love purses and figured if I'm going to wear a bag every day that's going to replace my luxury bags, then I should get one I loved to wear everyday. After 2 years of wearing the prada diaper bag, I finally caved and got a normal backpack (patagonia). I lasted 2 years because I spent so much money on it and didnt want to hear my husband say "i told you so". Haha. Backpacks are so much easier on the shoulder and back. It's easier to carry your baby and especially a toddler with a backpack vs with a messenger bag.
2)Messenger diaper bags get really heavy. I wore it crossbody and shortened the strap alot. This way it wasn't too heavy on my shoulder and back. In the beginning the bag is stuffed so much it really weighs on you. Hang it on your stroller or carry it crossbody.
3) most luxury diaper bags are the same in what they have to offer-- side bottle pockets, interior pockets, changing pad. So it really comes down to what brand you want to wear everyday. Just make sure you get one that's water proof and one you won't mind getting really dirty. Get one that's easy to get inside. The prada diaper bag is nylon and black so it was easy to wipe off anything. I never closed the top zipper because I was frequently going in and out.

Congratulations on your baby!

Another benefit of a backpack is that once you no longer need a diaper bag, you can still use it without it looking like it is meant for a baby that has now grown up. Dior makes some nice backpacks, for both women and men:

Yessss!!!!! My prada diaper bag now just collects dust. I'm too lazy to sell. I tried giving it to my sister (for free) who is having her third baby but she said no to it. She's fine with her Columbia backpack. She's into luxury bags and has a ton but wants comfort and carefree bags to toss around and get dirty.
This is a great option!!!!

+1 to @ashin121 and @averagejoe! I’m a FTM too and was originally planning on using a longchamp or similar tote for a diaper bag. My mom got me a backpack instead and it’s been a lifesaver.

Additionally, a nice thing about using a backpack is I don’t have to worry about the backpack getting dirty or stolen.
Congrats on being a FTM!

@gcwl I'd use the $$$ and get a non baby/diaper luxury bag that you can use later. Or get a luxury backpack but ultimately it's up to you. I didn't listen to anyone and still got the prada one haha. People told me the same advice so just do you.

I’m about to have my 2nd baby (less than 3w away I’m so ready to not be pregnant anymore!!). My first son is 21 months, so I still need to carry diapers/ wipes/ snacks with me. My LV Speedy 35B has been great as a regular bag with enough room for baby stuff. Having an organizer in there is definitely a help, too. There’s still enough room for a bottle or two, MORE diapers, and a few other things. I know a lot of people use backpacks, but -eh- they’re not my style. Just another suggestion
