Dionysus quality issue - exchange again or refund?

Hi everyone,

I have the Dionysus mini (square one, larger than the WOC). I had my bag 3 months and the stitch on the side at the top of the front flap came undone. I returned it to selfridges in Manchester, UK. They offered me an exchange instead of a repair. I was very pleased with this.

The one they had in store was scratched so they had to order one in for me. I collected it from store and it was perfect. Well I thought it was until I got it home. I realised the clasp sticks, terribly. I only opened it once in store and it was ok there. I’ve used the bag twice now to see if this problem would go with use but if definitely not right at all. Mostly, when I open the bag it half comes out of the clasp then I have to pull it free.

So the second bag is now going back. I’m very disappointed and upset about this. My husband thinks I should get a refund as he thinks it poor quality from a designer brand and he thinks I’ll just have another problem with the next bag.

What would you guys do? Exchange or new one? When I bought the bag it was £1420, there has since been a price increase and it’s now £1510, so if I get my money back and buy it again it’s more expensive. I’m not sure what to do.

I have the black leather with crystals version of the bag and I do love the Dionysus with the crystals.

I know. It’s just really disappointing because I really do love the Dionysus bags. If I didn’t my decision would be lots easier.

I’m not sure whether to go for third time lucky and ask for a refund if anything happens again. Three new bags would be my absolute limit though.

I'd try once more. It's a stunning bag and the Dionysus is such a classic. I would def take it in though. My Hermes bag had very stiff poppers and one side popped out and left hole (now repaired). It prob won't get better by itself.

I had 2 dud (Gucci) cat brooches and had to exchange twice because of (different) problems with the catch. Third time lucky, this cat's perfect. It can happen. It shouldn't but it does. One of our members found a cut in the inside of her Hermes bag and as I said your problem really chimes with me because I've just picked up the repair from Hermes. I'm really careful - even when I don't have the time to be - but we haven't to be, they're bags.

I would take it back and try just once more.

Thanks for your reply. I think I will go for third time lucky and cross my fingers tightly. I do love it. The tiger head closure just sparkles at me, I can’t resist.

I would try again because Dionysus is such a good looking classic bag . I cannot see what can replace that :)

The Dionysus is a very classic bag. I think it will age well and be a great vintage bags in years to come. I have 2 Dionysus bags in red and black leather with crystals. I also have the supreme monogram canvas with the suede trim and I love them because they can look really classy or really edgy depending on what outfit you wear. I haven’t had any quality issues with them and wear them a lot. Good luck. :)
