I was checking out the City bags on Barneys.com and noticed the dimensions were different than listed on this forum as well as Balenciaga.com. Barneys lists the depth of the bag as only 3.5 vs 5" on the other sites. It also calls the City the "Arena City". Does this mean it's not the classic city and would possibly explain the size discrepancy....or is it just a typo/error?

I'm sure it's a typo. There is only one classic City style, and online retailers are notorious for not getting the details correctly. I believe "arena" is a term used to describe the way the leather is treated. I don't think Bal uses that term much any more. You will also find the more you shop for Bal that a color will sometimes be called several different names, which can be annoying :)

Balenciaga still uses the word "arena" on the color swatches every season, to distinguish the leather treatment/processing for the motorcycle line of bags from that used on other collections, so that's really the only significance. The leather was called arena when it was chevre and is still arena now that it's lamb. Other collections like the papier, for example, are made of different leather or differently treated leather and have a different color swatch each season.
