All of my jewelry pieces are in yellow gold except for one white gold bracelet which I received as a gift. I’ve always been drawn to YG but I do acknowledge the fact that WG also looks really nice on my skin tone. I’ve been checking on what to purchase next and the VCA 5 motif onyx and diamonds in WG combo is so eye catching in my opinion but if I get this, I feel like I will start purchasing more WG pieces to wear with it and scared I might end up not being able to use most of my YG pieces as often specially on the days I’ll be using WG since I’m not into mixing metals.

Have you guys had this dilemma? If so, did you end up sticking to one metal color or end up mixing them together?

Mix. But usually different pieces together. I am not a fan of two tone within one piece (though I have some of those). Post Covid, DH and my independent jewelermtold me that YG was best on my skin tone (I had been wearing wg for maybe three decades before, and I was like couldn’t you have told me this sooner? Lol) so now I wear mainly YG jewelry. I still prefer phw bags

For me, almost every new jewelry addition means that my current pieces will be used less, because I generally wear the same types of pieces every day: 1 pair of earrings and 1 right hand ring. So each new ring or pair of earrings means I will wear my others less often, regardless of the metal color.

I don’t generally mix metals, either. My core pieces are WG and platinum (wedding set and the two bracelets I wear daily). I wouldn’t want to suddenly get an anniversary band or other core piece in YG or RG. But I have one right hand ring + earrings set in mixed metals.

So I guess my thoughts are:
- when you add to your collection, you’ll probably wear some pieces less often regardless of metal color, so I wouldn’t let that fear stop you from getting something you love.
- if you’re not into mixing metals, I’d recommend the piece in the new metal to be something that you wouldn’t plan to wear daily.

I’m not a fan of two-tone as well. I did a little bit of research on tips when collecting/curating jewelry pieces and the very first thing I did was to figure out the metal that suites my skin tone which is YG. I’m glad I did to avoid regrets later on but sometimes some but few WG pieces really gets my attention.

Thank you for sharing and for the recommendation. Getting something like a statement piece or something. I like that. I’m not planning of getting other metals anytime soon but definitely been curious on what people think about mixing metals. Next piece I’m getting is the classic love bracelet with 4 diamonds YG.

I can relate to your dilemma—I’m not into mixing metals either. Most of my jewelry is YG since I think it complements my face best. I do have a few WG pieces, but I rarely wear them now that my collection is mostly YG. I was already thinking of letting the WG pieces go, but we recently finalized my engagement ring—and it’s in WG. I'm now panicking about how I'm going to overcome my dislike of mixing metals lol.
So far, I'm thinking I’ll just keep my left hand bare aside from the ring, wear my YG bracelet(s) on my right hand, and stick to YG for the rest of my jewelry, like earrings or a necklace if I wear one. However, I want to have an option for a total WG look when I'm in the mood for it. I "need" a bracelet to go with my new ring. Coincidentally I'm also considering the onyx & diamonds Alhambra bracelet or a mini panthere watch in WG with diamonds. My diamond studs are set in YG, but they're Maria Tash invisible setting (no prongs, no metal is visible from the front), so I think I'll be ok wearing them with a WG set.

This is my long way to say - I think if you love the bracelet, you should go for it. You can always alternate metal tones by day/ week, wear it solo, pair it with diamond earrings, or start mixing metals!

Only since the beginning of the year, I have decided to change my look on my wrists and fingers, so I wear silver/white gold/stainless steel on the left side and yellow gold/rose gold on the right side. I have not worn my two-tone watches in a very long time as I like how fresh stainless steel looks. Eventually I will have to wear my Trinity ring, so I will mix it up again when I am in the mood to do so.

When I have recently gone shopping to try on index rings, the salespeople notice and sometimes comment that they like my "look".

I like to have other complimentary pieces to tie things together. Would you consider trying a white gold ring to wear on your hand when you wear the white gold bracelet?

This way you can continue to wear your yellow gold pieces and incorporate the white.

Depending on my mood I will add something to my pinky finger, middle or index.

Sounds like the perfect everyday piece!
Not planning to wear it as an everyday piece because I work in healthcare so I will end up putting it on and off. I will most likely end up having problems with the screw loosing up but what can I do I’ve been dodging the love bracelet for a while now but can’t ignore the beautiful piece anymore specially now that they have the new hinge for the classic haha. But yes something I can wear casually which I like the most.

Coincidentally I'm also considering the onyx & diamonds Alhambra bracelet or a mini panthere watch in WG with diamonds.
haha this combo is exactly what I’m thinking. If I feel wearing WG, then I would want to pair 5 motif onyx and diamonds with the panthere watch. It will give me an excuse to get the mini stainless steel 😅

That’s very nice. I’m planning to get the panthere stainless steel do you think Cartier can make the steel shine again if it loses its luster?

I might if I do end up getting a WG bracelet or necklace that I absolutely want then yes possibly. I’ve been eyeing on the WG serpenti full pave ring and the WG alhambra diamond ring.

Just FYI the stainless steel panthere watches are going to have a price increase in the following couple of weeks.

I was really into silver when I was young and then RG, then YG. (WG purchases were spontaneous throughout).
Tbh, I got very used to mixing metals after getting my e-ring and wedding band.
Because I'm gonna wear my wedding set and I'm going to wear what I buy and love, so guess what? I'm gonna wear it all!:lol:
