I have been after a certain Versace bag in black for awhile now. I accidentally bought a brown one thinking it was black a few months ago and decided to keep it but also kept about 3 or 4 links to black ones bookmarked while I saved for a couple months to also get black. Now those links are all sold except for one. This same bag is listed on Poshmark, and eBay and also Facebook Marketplace. It's been listed for awhile now (like months). I want it....

The dilemma you ask? On Posh and eBay her shipping is listed to USA and I am in Canada. I contacted her on Facebook and asked if she could ship to Canada. I got one response saying yes but she was away and couldn't ship until after the 12th. Knowing that it's still listed on those other two ads, and not wanting the only one of this bag I can find to disappear, I asked if I could either pay in full now or even just a deposit until she was back home. She didn't respond, even though she definitely saw the message. I asked several times and she didn't respond at all.

What would you do in my situation? Here is the bag I want in excellent (like new) condition. The only one I can find on the net and she won't respond to me on Facebook, and Posh and eBay won't allow me to purchase due to my location.

Here is the link in case anyone knows of the same bag somewhere else for sale... it's a few years old design so not many around. I can find some in different colors but no black anymore except this one. Amazing how in only a couple months they all disappeared... it's the Versace Vanitas Medea 12" shoulder bag in black.

Well, there’s nothing you can do. Personally, if she ever did respond to you I’d have nothing to do with her. This bag will come up on a site some day for you; we’ve all been there waiting to find the one that got away… it will come back.

You can also find a cobbler that dyes bags and see what they say about dying your brown one black.

Maybe it's sold? You said it's cross-listed on other sites and has been for months; perhaps she doesn't even have it any longer. I personally wouldn't buy from someone who doesn't reply to repeated messages, and you don't want to be so over-eager, sellers can take advantage of you. Another bag will come along, they always do. You've already been patient, just wait for a better seller imo

You don't have a dilemma: a dilemma means a choice, and you are not able to control this in any regard. First, the "she was away" part could be simple truth, away and offline. And you don't know if it's in her inventory still or not. And you don't know for sure that someone else will definitely snap it up before you. Who knows?

The resale market is always churning things in and out.

Just for clarification she did say it was available and she could ship to Canada. That was in the only message she sent me along with she couldn't ship until after the 12th. But then why ignore my messages after that? She did see them (message read indicator). At the least if she us just busy she could have said can we do this after the 12th.... but no response at all makes me think she really doesn't want to deal with someone else outside US. Wish I knew someone in the US who could forward it for me.

There may be any number of reasons as to why she didn’t respond. She may have sold the purse. She may have Covid. Her boyfriend may have proposed and she’s caught up in that excitement. She may not trust you / your account since you’re in another country. And, so on. I would not assume nefarious intent.

I exchanged a messages with a buyer this summer. I stopped communicating when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It did not even cross my mind to look at any of my selling accounts at that point - and, I didn’t for over 6 months. Who knows what the buyer thought but, I had far more important things on my mind. And, it wasn’t incumbent on me to tell them of my diagnosis to wrap up the dialogue.

What I would suggest you do is move on. I’ve had the hunger for THE bag and it always passes. The not getting (sense of scarcity) makes the want grow.

There will be other bags. There will even be others selling this bag. (I once got a hunted bag after 6 years of looking.) But, please release yourself from worrying about this one. :flowers:

How close to the US border are you? When we didn't have covid to worry about I drove across the border regularly to pick up my stuff at my package shipper/receiver. There are also all sorts of companies that will work as a receiver of packages for you and will forward them on to Canada for a price. You would just need to use that address on your eBay account as your receiving address. So it can be done if you're confident enough in the seller.

I hope things are better for you now.

Yes I hope I will come across another sometime. The challenge is do I buy something else with what I saved now, or try to save it aside... that's the hard part. Really really hard part LOL
