Difficulty in getting a birkin- pre wait list vs post wait list..

In reading through so many peoples experience in getting their coveted birkin, I would have thought it would have been easier to get after the wait list was removed altogether in 2010..

Can those of you who have bought a bag during both pre list and post list tell your experience on what was easier?? Thanks in advance!!
