Did this happen to you too? (Fine jewelry and “let me see if we have that in the back”)

Do any of you have musings about your Chanel visits to share?

Anyone been pushed to go peruse the fine jewelry pieces? Happened to me and a friend (separate visits). Just wondering if there’s some secret quota or goal? It’s pretty annoying cuz it’s not what I care about and I feel bad so I entertain it for a bit.

Anyone also feel like they only show you anything desirable if you don’t ask specifically for it? Or if you peruse for a while and turn down two or three things you’re looking at? And then they go to the back and pull out something after saying “oh we don’t have that… but let me check in the back” and it magically appears!!

I haven't, I had several bag purchases in the boutique last summer and was never asked to peruse or was it suggested I look at jewelry.
I had specific stolen items to rebuy last summer and had to wait on a couple, was able to walk out with a couple, but had no games or weird experiences buying anything - both in boutique and NM.

Yes an SA suggested to me recently if I wanted to see fine jewelry, but I politely declined stating that I only want to see items that I will potentially purchase and don’t want to waste anyone’s time looking I items I know I will not buy. I think SA actually appreciated my honesty. To me it felt like SA offered it as a suggestion, not having anything specific in mind. Like if you buy cosmetics an SA asks if you would like to see perfume as well, that type of thing.

Nope, but I very rarely go to the boutique anymore.
The last time I bought fine jewelry from Chanel was in 2017, but even back then I didn't get follow-up messages or e-mails inviting me back to see any more fine jewelry. I think I got a catalog in the mail once.

When I do go to my local Chanel, I just ask what I want to see and they just bring out what they have.
I think it's reasonable for them to go check for something in the back, doesn't hurt to double check.

I say if they ask and you're not interested, just say no thanks. :P

My SA shows me things that she thinks would suit me and look good on me. We’ve tried on some jewelry, and she has invited me to jewelry events (I haven’t been able to go bc I’ve been out of town) . So far, chanel jewelry is not really my taste, and I don’t have a problem saying no if I’m not interested. My impression is chanel jewelry is significantly better priced than dior, but some pieces are less sturdy (neither are my taste). I prefer Verdura Belperron or Bulgari, and that’s fine with all of my SAs, not just my chanel SA.

ETA: no games re what’s in the back. Everything gets pulled for me or a request for transfer is made (no obligation, but I don’t ask unless I’m reasonably sure). I am a RTW client, not a bag client though.
