Hi there! I usually inhabit the Chanel "room" but have spent this week over here and am nurturing another addiction

I have some money stuck in PayPal (long story) and don't really want to buy yet another bag... so, I've decided to treat myself to some jewellery :yahoo:

But I am all of a dither now and can't decide what!!

After reading the Pearl thread, I fell in love and spent a couple of days learning and researching pearls. Found a necklace, pendant and some earrings I like. This is one of the necklaces I particularly like http://www.pearlparadise.com/******...Cup-Necklace-Pearl-size-90-to-100-mm2245.aspx

But then I thought about diamonds and have spent a couple of days on them . I'd really really like a diamond eternity ring and some stud earrings.

(I'm severely jetlagged, hence the non-stop surfing :weird:)

Pros and cons:
Pearls:- don't have any real ones; not sure which colours would suit me; would definitely fit.
Diamonds:- worried about ring size; can't figure out carat sizes for studs(duh me!); adore sparklers (and it's my birthstone);

I've never bought jewellery online before so am a little nervous about it.
Or shall I buy a bag?! :p

Heyulp!

I think you should contact JAPSTER (look into the huge pearl info thread) and she can give you advice. She also has a website with real modeling pictures to have an idea of how they would look like against your skin.

Do you have a certain preference for color? :)

Also, pearlparadice, pearloutlet are good options.

As for diamonds, an eternity ring would be gorgeous. Plus studs are timeless. Even more than the TIMELESS CLUTCH (LOL). You get so much from them because you can wear them EVERY SINGLE day of the year so you'll get your money's worth.

I myself prefer the 0.75ct or the 0.50ct on each ear. Some gals prefer them a whole lot bigger and some prefer them smaller so it depends on your taste. :)
I also like them in the MARTINI setting (the one with 3 little claws holding the diamond) because they stick CLOSER to the ear :)

HTH

Thank you Mininana

I'm permanently looking at Elana's site! It's fabulous!! Oddly enough it's some diamond jewellery there that I'm keen on (and she gave me advice on the thread re colour).

The pearls I like are these http://www.pearlparadise.com/******...Cup-Necklace-Pearl-size-90-to-100-mm2245.aspx as I couldn't make up my mind on colour so went for the multi!

And your comments re the diamonds are spot on re why I'm heading in that direction at the moment.

I think why I am hesitating is because I usually wear BIG jewellery: costume / silver etc and I worry the studs may be too small? I'm sort of larger than life iykwim!
I can't afford to buy really big ones so your advice is really useful, thanks.

I'm like you!! I used to use LOTS of costume jewelry, ALL THE TIME!!! (btw I'm not that old, lol I just sounded a whole lot older than I am)

but strangely, since I turned 28 this past december (I'm almost 29 now!!) I've been wanting smaller, cuter, more EXPENSIVE looking things. :) Mind you. I was NEVER a STUDs type of gal. Those were for my 2nd or 3rd ear hole back when I was in college. LOL. But now, the studs look so EFFORTLESS and chic.. it's a different type of look. Totally different from costume.

Anyway, you can always get the best from both worlds. I LOVE the necklace you chose. I think it will go just as great with a plain white button down shirt as well as a gorgeous strapless black top for nights out. Or even a maxi dress or any jersey dress for the day :)

You could get cheaper regular CZ studs to see how you "feel" about them and then decide for diamond options later.

I myself would go this route. I love love love SWAROVSKI and this is where I get most of my costume jewelry. :)

these are bezel set but so cute. Not sure about the size though. As I said, I prefer smaller studs, they give you that right hint of bling :)

Haha! I've got those!!! (the Swarovski ones) Now you mention it, I hardly wear them. Hmmm. Back to pearls again.

I'm quite a bit older than you ;) and think it's time I "grew up"... but then again... LOL!

I really do like bezel set stones, so modern and sleek, but expensive! Will play with the size site, ta!

Think I'll sleep on it. Who knows, maybe tomorrow I'll be onto sapphires or something!

LOL! jewelry is timeless and each person has a different taste. I think i'm going through the phase where I just got married and want smaller more "expensive" looking things because I didn't get as much jewelry from DH as the other gals did when marrying (it's an asian thing, gift exchange)

I got bags instead LOL :)

anyway, so I did get one GORGEOUS diamond set, that cost a whole lot more than the other gals jewelry TOGETHER, BUT I don't want to wear the same thing ALL THE TIME :D

I like bezel set stones too, I plan to get those swarovski ones. BTW, how big/small are they?

I like the pink ones.. haha, such a girly girl. :D

well, you can always get the pearl necklace, I think it's GORGEOUS.

but, to be honest, Elana could get you a WHOLE necklace (pearls all over) of TAHITIANS for that price. :) (u might even get lucky and she might have one with a diamond encrusted ball in it. :D)

xoxo

I forgot to add!!! I just got a whole bunch of cheap pearls on ebay to try to decide what color I want. I'm not sure what color would suit me best either!

DH doesn't get me jewellery at all - he's really tight. I even bought my own wedding ring so I could have the one I wanted! If I left it to him I'd have had a Coke ring pull!

If the Swarovski's ARE identical, they are about .5cm across, maybe .7cm? Can't check, it's late / early here and he's in bed.

I will contact Elana about the necklace. It's because it's NOT a whole necklace that I like it!

Bye for now and thanks for the chat ;)

Well, luckily the auction for my HG bag got ended early (which was slightly annoying because it's hugely rare and I'll probably never see it again)

BUT, it meant I had money for jewels :yahoo:

I went for DIAMONDS  and thanks to the fabulous Elana's recommendation I got the following in the mail tonight...

Pics thanks to FutureFashionista.com

The so-called "Pizza Earrings" Wow. Just WOW!!!

And a gorgy Swirly pendant...

Now I'm after a diamond bracelet, and a few rings, and and and ... why did I buy all those bags??!
