Diamond studs, 0.6tw: 4-prong in platinum or gold setting DBTY?

Hi!

I am not sure, which studs would be the better allday-round-studs:

Elsa Peretti's Diamond by the Yard in yellow gold, 0.5tw

or

4-prong studs in platinum in 0.6tw

The DBTY in 0.5 seem as large as the 0.6 4-prongs, that's why I would go for the 0.5 DBTY. What is your opinion?

In my eyes the 4-prong setting for the ears (round cut stones) is very elegant, very classy but also formal. Perfect for a little black dress while the gold setting is more the everyday look. in my eyes.

You can convince me if I am wrong :-)

I prefer platinum or white gold settings with diamonds as it will give the illusion of the stones being larger and doesn't add any colour to the stones. I wear mine everyday so I don't think it is too formal. My more "formal" pieces are all set in yellow gold.

what kind of setting do you have? prongs?

Agree! I have 4 prong platinum and dont' feel like they need to be dressier - the prongs hold them up to grab the most light (sparkle) too!

Er Prong Studs. I think you'll get more wear out of them daily. I think they are more classic. I do think bezels are cute but I dont think they look as nice.

Platinum is my metal of choice for several reasons. Strength especially. The metal holds up better over time.

More classic, stronger setting, your diamonds will look larger, too....
Perfect for every day.
Both my pairs are set in platinum.....DH gave me the last pair as a baby gift and I wear them every day.

I agree with the rest of them - go with the prong setting so they'll make the diamonds sparkle more. A platinum settings the way to go! Can't wait to see reveal pictures :)

hi texasgirliegirl! are your platinum studs set in prongs or bezel?
I had the impression the bezel setting made them look larger than the prongs did.
