It depends on the cut. Are you looking at round diamonds? Usually, there's a diameter measurement on the diamond certificate (in millimeters). You can use that to see if it would make a difference.

Well cut rounds when on your head? Not unless you were side by side someone with identical earlobes, headsize and the only difference were diamond size.

I'm looking at round diamonds. Wanted to know if there would be a noticeable difference when looked at when on the ears.

Thanks!

What do you suggest be the most important factor to look at for ear studs (round diamonds)? I've been told that the cut should be the most important for the "sparkle" effect and not so much the color.

I was set on 1 tcw but wanted to know if there would be a different if I went up to the 1.2 tcw instead.

Your thoughts?

Cut quality. If they aren't cut well they won't sparkle. Color and clarity aren't what make a diamond sparkle, cut quality is. Don't skimp on that.

The size difference in mm is going to be negligible between a .5 and .6 when set and on you. You also don't need high clarity or high color(D, E, F or G) for studs. An H, I or J color set would look great as a set of studs, unless you're planning to reset them later as side stones in a ring next to an already-procured higher color stone, in which case, match it within one grade. If they're cut well, they'll be clean, and bright and firey, even on your head.

Good advice! I agree that the size difference would be slight.
