I don't a diamond solitaire necklace yet, only a cirkonia necklace, the stone is tiny, about 0.25ct. Back when I bought it, the stone did not seem so small, but since I've bought my studs, 0.83 tcw, it seems too tiny (I would not mind it being costume jewellery).

There is a thread where people post which buys they regretted. Would I regret a diamond solitaire for my neck?

Ssince I've bought my diamond studs, I feel as if a necklace would match the studs perfectly. I don't feel like wearing my golden bean every day around my neck, some days are meant to be less golden and more silver, silver like the white sparkle of a diamond. :-)

A few months from now, lets say 2 or 3, I will be even with my past expenses (gold and diamonds) and ready for the next piece. Would a diamond solitaire necklace be a good idea?
Or should I look out for bigger cirkonia-costume jewellery-necklace?

Since you have real diamond studs, I would be tempted to buy a real diamond necklace. Nothing huge, maybe a DBTY type dainty necklace. There are several threads (with pics) on this subject to get a feel for the look.

A diamond solitaire necklace is certainly worth it if you wear it often. I have a 1 carat one and wear it daily, either wore alone or layered with other necklaces. It's forever classic!

I think that simple, high-quality items are always worth saving up for, especially if you think you will wear it often (say, once a week at least). My parents gave me a tiny diamond solitaire pendant for my 18th birthday (almost 10 years ago!), and I still wear it quite often even though it's not a "trendy" piece, or even a particularly nice diamond! And even when I forget I own it sometimes :p I will find it again and it is still lovely and nice to wear. Some of the other more trendy jewelry pieces I bought myself... I can't say the same for!
