I love marquis diamonds! And love oval and pear shape too. My previous rings were princess cut and classic round cut. But for my next engagement I want some of these shapes. Or would it be too fashionable and get out of style too soon? I’m conflicted.

I’ve always loved marquise cuts-I’ve had D, pink and blue.

I’m not sure how well it would sit with a wedding set, as I mostly wear mine on it’s on-I have stacked it with other bands with diamonds, but the diamond in daylight is so bright that any other ring detracts from it..

I’m not sure whether or not that’s any help?xxxx

Actually I didn’t think of how a marquis diamond would look with a wedding band. Thank you!
I tried on a gooooorgwous 6 carats oval diamond ring and it looked so amazing and beautiful, it’s my dream ring right now! And I don’t care how a wedding ring would look with it! I’d have a tiny tiny tiny wedding band as long as I have that huge rock!

I think Oval is popular right now bc it looks the largest per carat on the finger. I don’t care for it. Princess and Round are classic forever and always in my opinion (but I think Princess looks better with side stones). Have you checked out cushion cut, I just bought a perfectly square brilliant cushion and I LOVE it! This shape was never on my radar but I fell in love.

I absolutely love my Marquise!!! My husband proposed in April 1992, and that Marquise has never left my finger and never will!!! He just had it reset into an updated setting, and I’m going to attach the pictures below. He surprised me with a five stone wedding band as well because the wedding band I had matched my old setting and I wore it on my right hand. I also attached my prior rings before the updated setting so you can see a Marquise in different settings. I hope this helps! PS I stare at my Marquise as much today as I did the day I got engaged!
EDIT: sorry, the last two pictures are my new right hand ring. I don’t know how they got there! I think I had all the pictures lumped together. Sorry!!!!

The shapes are fun, just be careful with the width to length ratios on the elongated stones. Here on this forum I’ve seen a lot of marquise, emerald, radiant and oval and even heart that are too elongated and not pleasing to the eye. Radiants and ovals can also have a bowtie effect if not well cut. Too wide can also be a problem. You can easily do an online search for the “ideal” ratios

I’m a fancy shaped girl. I previously had an oval that I adored. I just upgraded to a 5.4 carat chunky pear and boy did I agonize if a round classic was the way to go. I picked the Pear as it was perfect shape and looked amazing on my hand. I’m not a fan of Marquis cuts as I like chunky fancy cuts. My advice is get what makes you smile and you won’t regret it.

It’s gorgeous!!!
And I love that you can do your nails in the same shape as your diamond! I would probably always had the same manicure just to highlight the stone!
