I'll cut to the chase, and spare you the unveiling part!

I bought myself a nice little diamond and white gold trinket today. I've been wanting a sparkly, big ring for awhile. I "owe" myself a jewelry gift for completing a huge, 2-year project at work. I had tried on an emerald and diamond ring, which was a lot cheaper, but I wasn't in love with it. I foolishly tried on diamond rings, thinking I was "just trying them on for fun". Right. Sure.

The question: do you think the style is too big/hefty/gaudy for my finger? I never wear big rings. Hubby hates it. Thanks!

I think this is very on par with your taste and that you will really enjoy wearing it for years to come. I'm more into delicate jewelry/simple jewelry (the opposite of that chain bracelet I posted about basically LOL) so while it isn't my personal taste I believe you will really enjoy it. Congrats!

Thank you! The funny thing is that I think it would be my taste if it were not a ring--a pendant, or set in a bangle! I normally like daintier rings on me, and I think big rings look great on others's hands. Hubby said it's not my style! LOL

I wish I could get pix of the sparkle. I've always wanted baguette diamonds, and I don't know if you can really see them in the photos--everything looks DULL, but it really flashes in person. I just think it would suit my finger better if it were just a tiny bit smaller in scale.

I just bought this for my birthday a few weeks ago. It's similar (but a lot smaller) than the ring:

The pic is very blurry and awful. Sorry!

LVoeletters, you do have such amazing taste in your jewelry! I don't have the beauty to carry off the elegant stuff, like everyone here does. I think I tend to use jewelry to compensate for my ugliness.

I think your ring is gorgeous! My tastes change all the time...sometimes I wear bigger rings, and sometimes more delicate rings (like the ones my husband bought for me many years ago when I liked more dainty jewelry). Your ring, in my opinion, is definitely not too big...and I am sure you are very pretty too!

I like your ring. The size seems right for your hand, and it honestly doesn't look too big to me (and I only wear small jewelry). I'm concerned, though, that if you are questioning the size you might not be happy with it long-term. Most of the time when I have to talk myself into something, it eventually goes bad lol. Especially when DH hates it. Can you have a look at some other rings before making your final decision? That might help clear up any doubts you have.

Oh I see, but I think if you wear subtle bracelets on that hand it will look fine. Perhaps wear the ring for the next week and see if it grows on you. Otherwise if the size is going to feel off putting I would look for another ring or what I've done when I can't find my ideal ring- find a pendant in the size that you would want the ring, and bring some scrap gold and have a jeweler make the shank for you. But that is a lot more effort.
As for the camera I feel your pain!!!! I have been trying so hard to capture my sparkle for people interested in the specs but I cannot get it right!

Nice and classic! I think you'll get good wear out of this pendant. Thank you for your kind words, you flatter me. And beauty has nothing to do with carrying it off, its confidence! I look like I'm a misplaced 16 year old running around in jewelry that the majority of my age group would not consider for another 10-20 years. LOL. The right jewelry will make you feel beautiful and confident when you leave the house, I hope these two pieces will make you feel elegant!

Thank you, everyone, for the nice comments and advice!

I've grown to love this ring during the day. I realized that my fingers were swollen in the pics I posted, and now the ring looks better on my finger. I wore it most of the day, and couldn't stop looking at the diamonds! It is comfortable to wear, and, when I took it off a few times to do housework, I missed it--I kept feeling for the weight on my finger. It now feels weird not to have it on. In the car, on the way to dinner, the sunlight hit it, and wow! What sparkle and fire. I got a compliment at dinner, too. I think my hesitancy was due to that it was not my normal size and style, and I feared that I had made a mistake in buying it. I don't think I'd buy another one this scale, unless the center had a colored stone to break up the visual size, but I will keep it (even if DH doesn't like it; he now admits the diamonds are very nice, though).

I'm now putting my jewelry spending on house arrest. Until the next time...:graucho:
