I am contemplating on purchasing a pair of Radiant cut diamond earrings. Here are the specifications:

First Diamond: Radiant brilliant cut Carat Weight = 2.01ct, Shape and Cut = Cut Corner Square Mod. Brilliant. Measurements 7.27 x 6.99 x 4.90mm. Proportions:- Depth = 70.1%, Table = 80%, Crown = 7.9%, Pavilion = 57.7%, Girdle = Thin To Thick Polished, Culet = None. Finish:- Polish = Very Good, Symmetry = Very Good. Clarity Grade = VS2, Color Grade = H, *Fluorescence - Medium Blue.

Second Diamond: Radiant brilliant cut Carat Weight = 2.00ct, Shape and Cut = Cut Corner Square Mod. Brilliant. Measurements 7.21 x 7.15 x 4.86mm. Proportions:- Depth = 68.0%, Table = 83%, Crown = 7.3%, Pavilion = 57.8%, Girdle = Medium To SL Thick Polished, Culet = None. Finish:- Polish = Very Good, Symmetry = Good. Clarity Grade = VS2, Color Grade = H, Fluorescence - Faint.

I do not know much about diamonds except for the clarity and color grading. Based on the information above, are these quality diamonds that will bring out a lot of sparkle-'fire', since I have researched many posts which indicates that cut is everything. Also, what would be a reasonable price? Please help! Thanks in advance.

Well, personally I think they're overkill for earrings, but I'd still be very jealous! If you can afford them then go for it, because they'll make gorgeous heirloom items - and, at some point, if you have two daughters each could take one and have perfectly matching pendants or rings.

But if re-purposing them at some later date is not a big concern and you just want the most gorgeous earrings for the price, I'd opt for better colour (F-G) and slightly lower clarity. Just my 2c. I am by no means a diamond expert, but I am a jeweller.

Also I think people - myself included - emphasize cut because it is the most often neglected of the four Cs! A well cut diamond should be non-negotiable... But what's most important is a perfect balance to suit your own desires and priorities.

I'm no expert but online guides suggest the ideal table and depth be in the range of 60 to 65% and crown between 12 to 15%.

I suggest that you post the stats on pricescope. There are trade experts who can advise you.

this is an instance where I will be of little use to you. Radiants are a hard cut to specify as "ideal" or whatever. There are more people on Pricescope that can aid you in this.

I'm known around these parts about not buying anything "sight unseen"

As great as things look on paper, they might be a huge disappointment in reality. And I speak from experience....and that of my jeweller who has over 200 years of family experience between the generations.

Some fluorescence is "ok" in cushions and radiants, but again, it all comes down to personal taste and "seeing" these stones in person.

Thank you all for your comments. I will try to post this on pricescope and see if I can obtain more info. Based on the weight and clarity, what would be a reasonable price?????
