Hi, I'm looking to buy my mother a diamond eternity band for a special occasion, she has a size 7 finger, and I'm wondering whether 5 or 7 0.2 ct diamonds would look better on the hand? Would the 5 diamonds show too much gold on the sides or would the 7 stones be uncomfortable. Does anyone have any pictures of their eternity bands on a size 7 finger? Thanks in advance!

I have a 5-stone ring with 40-pt+ diamonds (size 5 3/4). The diamonds take up all the space between the two adjacent fingers, so I can't fit any larger diamonds than 40-pts. As for your Mom with size 7 finger, I think she will need a 7-stone ring with 20 pt diamonds in order to have enough finger coverage ( that is, no metal showing).

In terms of comfort, the setting makes a big difference, even bigger difference than diamond size. I have both U-prong and Trellis rings, and they are very comfortable. Since the diamonds are large, they stay in place (no ring spinning).

I suggest you check out both Brain Gavin's and Whiteflash websites for these rings.

I have a 5 stone ring with diamonds of 16 pts each. My finger is size 7 1/2. The diamonds fill the space between fingers but, a little metal does show and it does not look like an eternity ring. I don't think I would go any larger in diamond size for a 7 stone ring in this ring size. If you are thinking of 0.2 ct diamonds, then I think 5 stones would be perfect.
