Diamond by the Yard help?

Hi everyone!

I'm getting married in a few months and my parents has generously offered me a diamond necklace. The first thing that comes to mind is the diamond by the yard solitaire. I thought about going Tiffany, but ultimately decided to go with another vendor so I can get a bigger diamond My questions are, is there a specific setting I should pick? I've been looking at Brian Gavin all morning and the Barbara pendant sticks out to me. Any recommendation? And is .25ct big enough? And is there any other vendors you ladies would recommend? And any modeling pics would be appreciated!

Oh yeah, and the budget is $1000.

I'd definitely go with bgd and for me I'd stay small since the "point" is dainty. Make sure the smallest size bgd does in that setting. It might be more like .30-.40, but that would be my pick.

A few posts down I asked for pics of .20 dbty solitaries. I'm thinking of taking a necklace of mine that has a halo and making it into a more simple bezel set solitare. For a lot of reasons, in my post, I feel like I will wear it more, easier to layer. But the halo is pretty and I hate to "waste" the halo diamonds so I'm up in the air. Nobody responded but if you go to the dbty thread and look through the pics you can see what some of the different size diamonds look like. Now if I could just make up my mind!

Agree! I have a DBTY yellow gold solitaire that is 0.78 ct. I absolutely love it and wear it every day. It's not too but but it's big enough to be noticed and look good layering.

This is my BGD in the martini setting. The diamond is .23 ct. I had the chain shortened to 15 1/2 inches.

Hahaha. If there's something I'd "go big or go home" with, it would be my engagement ring. I'd be so sad if the diamond on my necklace ends up being bigger than my engagement ring.

Yes, I requested the chain be shortened before they shipped. I drove everyone around me nuts with different lengths of string to get the measurement right.
If you have someone else shorten it, make sure they take equal lengths from both sides of the chain so the diamond stays centered.

Sparkles are important!

Mine post doesn't really have anything but me asking for pictures of dbty necklaces with diamonds around 20pts. The heading is "diamond necklace question". I'll probably have mine done, I'm going to take it to one more jewelry store for opinion and estimate. My necklace is pretty as is but I think I would never take it off if it was a solitaire dbty and not halo set.
