Hi. The number on your crown is off, please check again and enter the correct crown angle. Also, I would go down in color and move up in clarity. Say an H or I and a VS2.

The person I am in contact with have told me it's GIA but I haven't actually seen the certificate yet because they had some issues with organisation... I feel it's a bit of a sketchy story so this is the only information they can give me for a few days, so I was just hoping someone on here could point me in the right direction in the mean time.

I appreciate your input and will hopefully be able to update this in a few days with more accurate and comprehensive information.

sure, no problem. Tell them to give you the GIA cert number and you can look it up yourself.
Don't worry, there are tons of diamonds out there. :)

Thank you for the link! I will ask for cert number. Like I said, they're being kind of sketchy about where the cert is... I think perhaps they can't find it... so the only information I have is that of what they had listed on their own inventory list.

I was hoping whether someone on here could give me a bit of advice whether it's worth pursuing or whether it's a straight up no no but I think the best thing for me to do now is give them a few days to come up with the cert (or at least the cert number so I can look it up online, as you have suggested) and if they do, decide from there when I have more information.

Here in the UK people don't really bother with all this information they seem to just buy a diamond from seeing it and the color/clarity grades and then get the cert once they get the finished piece of jewellery. I think they were hoping I would just pull the trigger without seeing the cert which would have given them a few weeks to find it while they set the stone for me!!

Im going to say Pass. They're not willing to give you the information necessary? There probably isn't a report on this stone, or they want you baited and interested before they show it to you. No. Not good business.

If you want to work with someone in the UK, go see Indira Marchant. Marchant is an Infinity Diamonds dealer. Might be slightly more expensive but the cutting is amazing.

If you are willing to work with a US dealer via Online sales Check out goodoldgold.com, briangavindiamonds.com, maybe even james allen or high performance diamonds or nice ice. The latter two are also Infinity dealers. They don't sell their stones to anyone other than dealers (as in, only their dealers sell Infinity). I personally was ridiculously disappointed with all things Whiteflash other than their diamonds. I found their customer service appalling and it's seriously gotten even worse lately.

As for this stone: the table and depth are great.

Ame -

To be fair, this seems to be standard practice in the UK. For example when my brother bought an engagement ring last year he selected the stone and setting, paid, and only then did the shop release the certificate from their central admin/workshop premises (off site) to the retail store for him to pick up with the finished ring. I think the shop I am dealing with were banking on me accepting the information they had stored in their internal files (as detailed above), which seems to be more than the average person would ask for anyway. I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt because they come to me recommended but I will give them only a few more days to produce... something... in the very least the certificate number, as others have suggested.

Thank you for pointing me towards Indira Marchant. I will look towards this option if my current contact doesn't work out.

I have been pondering Good Old Gold and Brian Gavin (this forum has taught me a lot ) but the only problem is the cost of importing to the UK! Sometimes the taxes I would end up paying total almost half of the diamond/setting again which a) means I have to go waaay over budget to get the carat weight I'm after and this is definitely not an option; or b) cut my carat weight down which is just so hard to do now I've been looking for a while at the 1.10ct ballpark.

Decisions hmm...

True, and with Valentines pickings are slim right now.

Definitely wait for this jeweler to come through. This is common practice here also but that's a red flag IMO. Any jeweler who has a stone without the cert in hand is not one I trust. The stone and cert need to be togheter.
