Thank you, I will check it out ! I have seen it done with chocolate diamonds but not with something like aquamarine which is my birthstone or I was thinking maybe yellow topaz mixed with amythyst like my kids birthstones and then diamond is my husband's so like a mothers ringHere is the definition of pave: Pavé settings are made up of lots of small gemstones, often diamonds, set closely together. The gems are separated and held in place by little beads of the setting metal. The result is what looks like a continuous surface of diamonds or other gems.
Many rings do pave in colored stones, There is no reason that it would or should look "cheap." You might want to check out pricescope = they have a section on colored stones and you can search through lots of pics.
I am not sure if I want to do an E/W setting where the diamond is set horizontal or just the regular way. If I set it that way I can wear it with my e-ring and wedding band too if I want because it will line up better. I am not sure. I won't be doing it for a while and I really want to have it planned out. I will probably have Adamas jewelers in Newton Ma. do it, they designed my e-ring and also they do the jewelry for Eva Longoria's character on Desperate housewives and some other shows and stars as well ! their stuff is really unique and beatiful !I also have an oval diamond over 1 ct that I'd love to reset so I'll be interested to see what you discover.
