Okay ladies you know what I mean... the dreaded fanny pack!

I'm on the lookout for a "beater" bag (pardon the expression) for travel, outdoorsy days, theme parks, etc. and I kind of love the vintage chanel "belt bags" on ebay. It just looks like a cute mini purse on a belt.

Do any of you have something like this and find it useful (not just Chanel, any brand)? I'd love to see some mod pics because I can't find any photos of real people wearing them! Like, do you wear it on the belt threaded through your jeans loops, or casually slung across the body? I think they sound super cute in theory but I wouldn't want to look like a dork

I posted this question last week on the Chanel forum but I think I might have horrified those lovely ladies because nobody answered :p

Honestly the only people I see wearing waist bags are guys, old people or tourists (who are either guys or old people)! I know the LV SAs wear a cute waist pack, but that is probably due to function more than for style. I say if you are brave enough to rock this look go for it!

Haha yes this ^^ exactly. I would mainly be using it for touristy vacation type stuff so maybe it's a no go. I found a photo of a girl wearing one (below) looking quite cute & effortless which is what gave me the idea. But since it's something I couldn't exactly try on before buying maybe there's a good reason for my hesitation.

My original thought was a LV saumur or chantilly crossbody, but then I was thinking the monogram print might be too flashy/bad idea to carry in certain countries.

I kinda want to try wearing one like these, but I don't think it'll look good on my frame.

Cute on anyone who can pull it off. I think it would be great, like at a theme park or something.

hmmm...
if you're travelling I found the gucci fanny pack slung across your body to be alright.

Personally though, for functionality I would recommend ameribags.

I wore that while visiting London, England where I was out and about from 6 am till around 11 pm. It was the best thing for me. I forgot all about my designer ware. Especially if you're actually treking around and not casually shopping.

Thanks for the extra input ladies! I do this think it looks quite cute on this girl. I'm not as tall as her but I have a fairly thin frame so I think it might look similar on me? Most of the Chanel ones I've seen are pretty tiny but it would be for occasions where all I need is cash/cards/lippy and maybe cellphone & keys. I think if I can score one for cheap enough before my vacation I'll do it :graucho: Even though my boyfriend will totally make fun of me :roflmfao:

Where did you find that pic? I need to know where her necklace is from.

Anyway - I like the bag she is using, it looks cute! As long as its tiny, it could work.

I found the picture at this blog http://vanessajackman.blogspot.com/2012/08/paris-couture-fashion-week-aw-201213mia_24.html

That Ameribag looks nice! I usually make my bf carry the heavy stuff if we're really hoofing it around on vacation, but it looks pretty unisex to me. I will definitely keep that one in mind.

Actually in Europe I have seen many women wear designer waist bags as a belt over a slim t-dress or tunics with leggings. They tend to hold their cells, money and some makeup in them. It doesn’t look bad either, especially when matched to the other accessories.

I wear a Gucci belt bag when I travel. It looks nice and it can hold the essentials when I'm on the go. It can also be worn cross body which is cute. I also have a LV epi leather back pack that I adore for travel, amusements parks, etc.

I find the mobility of the belt bags to be amazing. I don’t have a designer one, but I have a herschel one. If I have to move around a lot, it doesn’t fall forward like a crossbody or eat my shoulders like a backpack.
