There are 3 styles for the Kelly – Retourne, Mou and Sellier.
Retourne: Retourne, a term more used by Hermes these days, simply means that the bag has been turned inside out after stitching so the stitches are inside the bag with piping exposed at the seams, giving it a more supple feel. This is the most common production method for the Kelly.
Mou: This type of Kelly is made with softer leather types but with the stitching on the outside. This style is rarely seen.
Sellier: Sometimes referred to as the Rigide, the bag is distinguished easily by its structured shape and the exposed stitching on the outside of the bag. It is mostly used on stiffer leather types, hence its rigidity and favoured by women who likes a “dressier” look for their Kelly. The Sellier is harder to come by and is pricier than a Kelly Retourne.
