This is my key fob I bought last winter. I loved it and used it as a bag charm on my Boroughs and Bleecker Coopers. Recently I attached it to the key ring of my Coach keycase. Today, I noticed it was missing. I found it in my emergency brake area. Good thing I have small hands so I could get my hand through the opening and retrieve it. As it was I had to cut the sides of the opening to get my hand in there.
I called Coach and told them the little cap that screws on must have fallen off. To make a long story short they can't replace the screw on cap. The will replace the fob if it is defective. The SA suggested maybe I didn't screw it on tight enough. That bothers me because I was always careful with this piece. It was one of my favorites. Tomorrow night my friend and I are headed to the Coach Boutique so they can have a look at it.

Unfortunately, I think it's mainly the style of key fob where there's a screw cap. They do tend to come undone with time. I had one (not Coach) where I had to periodically tighten it or I'd wind up on the ground searching for my keys.

If Coach isn't able to find a replacement, maybe try finding a cheap key fob in the same style and taking the cap from that? I'm sure there are fairly standard sizes for the screw caps.

That was a concern of mine when I bought it. I'm going to try to look through thr car for it. But its freezing out. We're having big wind gusts.

I also have a screw type key ring. It was a gift from Marlboro several years ago and it's a really nice one. I use it for my spare keys for this exact reason; they just don't stay tightened. I don't use my spare keys often at all or I would have problems with mine. I know when I left them in my purse for a couple of days accidentally, I had to tighten. As a fob on your purse I think it would be just fine and stay put but to actually do the job that it's supposed to and hold keys? I really don't think these things can handle it unfortunately. Sorry this happened to you. :(

I bought this fob, which is made the same way. It looks perfect on my Legacy Patricia but it would never stay screwed on tight. I was always afraid it would fall off, so I ended up putting a bit of glue on the threads. Now it is permanently attached to my Legacy Patricia shoulderbag.

I doubt they will do anything for you at Coach. The fob isn't actually defective; you just have to pay attention and tighten it up periodically. So annoying, really.

I went to my Coach store tonight and they ordered another one for me. It all depends on who you talk to. I knew the minute I walked in and saw who was there that I wasn't going to have any problem.

WOW! You must REALLY love that fob. You mutilated your car to get it back. I'm glad you were able to get it replaced. I'll light a candle for your poor car :wtf:
