Defect soie cool?

I purchased a soie cool wallet already some time ago, but haven't used it yet. We'll finally took it out and started putting my cards in the card slots - they do not fit!! I'm talking about standard sized credit cards here, but the slots are not wide enough. Is this normal for this style or am I having a defect version?

Do they fit turned the other way? If you put them vertically instead of horizontally do they go in far enough that you can close the wallet?
