Hi Ladies,

I am trying to decide if I sould get my 1st birkin from a local reseller. I can't decide between the 2 that she currently has

Would you choose an INDIGO (DARK BLUE) COLOR . COURCHEVEL LEATHER . PALLADIUM HARDWARE. H stamped. 30cm BIRKIN
or
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]a BRIGHTON BLUE & BLUE JEAN COLOR . CLEMENCE LEATHER . PALLADIUM HARDWARE. K stamped. 30cm Bi-Color BIRKIN as your 1st birkin?

How about you? What war your first birkin colour and leather?
Many many thanks in advance. Have a great day everyone :smile1:

I think both choices are lovely. Is the brighton blue on the exterior and the blue jean on the interior??? Is there contrast piping??

I am pretty boring and would go for a more basic birkin as your first. I would choose the one that is more monotoned..can match more things. I LOVE LOVE indigo and adore courchevel. Many here do not care for that leather, but I love it.

I guess I am saying go Indigo.

Hi hermesmonkey,

Thank you so much for the suggestion. Yes, the brighton blue is on the exterior and blue jean on the interior. I will try to upload some picture that I got from the seller.

By the way is courchevel leather a heavy leather compared to clemence?

I think the indigo is epsom... courcheval has been discontinued for a while... a H stamp bag would be epsom.

Then BB with bJ trim and interior looks unusual and probably harder to come by, if that is any consideration. Whatever makes your heart sing...

Both are gorgeous!! Few considerations for you to make, in no particular priority.

- Colour : which is more suited for your needs? If the intention is also to use it for work I would say Indigo, understated and classy. If you are more a casual (read jeans) person, then go for the BB/BJ. Of course the combo colours are rare.

- Leather/skin : do read up more on the differences between Epsom and Clemence leather. In short, the former is stiffer and the latter slouchy. Personally am not a big fan of Clemence, but that's me. Then again Epsom is also not my first choice of leather either but given the choices here, I would pick the Indigo Epsom as its more suited for my needs.

In summery, on the whole, I would say Indigo Epsom would be the "dressier" choice whilst BB/BJ Clemence more casual.

ETA - I totally agree with archangel its important to get the one that makes your heart sing. Taking the above info into consideration, the ultimate push is to go for the one that makes you go :tender:

I think the bi-color is the cutest of the two bags. But I agree with ms piggy in the sense that if you’re a working girl (especially in a conservative office) I’d go with Indigo. If you lead a more casual lifestyle, go with the blue brighton/blue jean combo.

Both leathers are very different. Epsom is very stiff and light whereas clemence is heavy and becomes slouchy over time.

Waow.... Thank you so much everyone for your kind opinions and suggestions.

I think the BB/BJ color is definitely more unusual. I am currently not working. I am helping my husband's business from home because I am currently 5 months pregnant :smile1: so I guess I dress casual.

The indigo worries me as I have 2 other dark blue bags already.

I wanted a dark color birkin that is not black and I am also unsure if the vibrant BB/BJ is a good choice for a first birkin.

And also I really I have to consider the rigidness and slouchy-ness the different leathers bring :sweatdrop:

If you could be so kind to let me add : take your time to discover which leather type is more you. If you can, go to the store to see and feel for yourself the many different skin types. You'd be surprised, what you like and dislike. No hurry. It's a wonderful journey.

Hi Ladies,

Can anyone let me know more regarding box leather? Is it very hard to maintain/take care? If it does, does it worth the effort (compared to leathers like clemence or togo or fjord?

I have a black evergrain KP and I found the leather just fabulous

Ms Piggy,

I think you are right, I think I should not be hasty in this matter. Have to really choose like what archangel said "the one that makes my heart sing" :p
My heart sung the last time I got my black KP.

I will do more research thoroughly
