Decent price or not

I really am not sure as I am so new to rolex. but they don't sound like a deal for watches that are that old. Have you done a search to see other resellers? I just saw a new DJ with white face, not mop, and two tone and I think it was $8k or 10k, and no diamond markers. The clasp on Jubilee band has changed and there was also a change in the actual casing in the last 10years or so.

Price wise I think you could do better. I've seen newer all yellow gold Rolexes go at auction for similar prices. Many times what you run into with older watches is the "play" in the metal bracelets. Sometimes they are extremely loose from wear and you can't tell from a photo.

Those prices are all too high as quoted, but you can likely bargain for a better price. You can also check the Rolexforums classifieds for comparable pricing.

Please make sure you get good photos showing bracelet stretch. Thats where a lot of your bargaining comes into play. Somewhat with age of watch.
If properly maintained Rolex movement will outlast you and I.

I don't think your MOP watch is out of line if minimal stretch and not after market diamonds.
I doubt you will get them below 4k.

Perhaps the dealer is expecting to negotiate a lower price, hence the high price tags?
I have a Rolex that's 60+ years old. I've replaced the crystal and bracelet. It keeps perfect time!

Try bending the bracelets. Theyre expensive to replace, too much play and I wouldn't get it. I don't know much about Rolex but my main concern would be the bracelet because you can repair the movement with regular maintenance.

The 2nd set of watches you showed are over priced but I don't think the first one is that off the mark with the MOP face. The other watch you have on your hand can be found for less many other places.

As mentioned, it's the stretch in the band that will bring down the price, not the age of the watch.
May I ask where you saw these watches? NYC in diamond district?
If you want a great price on used Rolex, try to go to a jewelry and gem show. They bargain!!!

Thank you so much for you help. I did negotiate for the mop face watch and got it way down. The bracelet is about a 7/10, expected wear on a 1977 watch. My husband has a 1985 submariner and the wear on his watch bracelet is much more. After looking for a while, it really came down to the one that appealed to me more and this was it. I'm very happy with my purchase.
I'm in SW Florida.
