In 1978, Hermes create and put his headquarter of watch in Bienne (Suisse). In this place, hermes create / developpe a part of the most beautiful watch in the world.
So the headquarter of hermes watch in Bienne order mechanical movements from China? a very good one. I will tell this joke to one of the manager of hermes watch in Paris.
no doubt, you seems very expert on hermes watch.

:flowers:

I will also joke to my friend, the Area Manager for Montres-Hermes Asia-Pacific who is located in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong that his PR machine is very good at disguising that fact.

Can I say this again, some ladies are pushing me to speak in an unpleasant tone and I do not like that especially when the original statement I have made is neutral empirical statement that can be proved true or false and I was hoping we can discuss this rationally.

EDIT: Would someone categorically state that I am lying rather than the SA giving an inaccurate information? If so, I will stay quiet from now onwards.

EDIT 2: I have never stated that ETA movements are shabby. The point is it's not LeCoultre. ETA is also the movement that is inside IWC Shaffhausen, Cartier automatic Tank, Breitling, etc. But what I can tell is that when you take it apart the finish is not on the same standard as the crystal back IWC for sure.

i thought this discussion was proceding politely and rationally -- i didn't see anyone call you a liar, but i guess i missed it. i'll go back and read.

my comment about ETA quality was directed at the poster who said that it would put her off purchasing hermes watches, not to you.

I agree no one has said I am lying. In fact I am putting my head on the chopping block to get this matter decided quickly. But surely you must agree that statements like 'no doubt, you seems very expert on hermes watch' have a hidden tone to it.

RE more myths...East Coast SA told me last summer that Vibrato was being discontinued. WRONG!!!!! The last time I was in the boutique in January, they had three new bags in vibrato!

it's true that the vibrato was discontinued for a time. But last year for the summer season, hermes have created a special collection of vibrato with news colors. but I guess it's a "one shot."

Speaking as a Jeweler and someone that also fixes watches, ;) ....Hermes is what I call a "jewelry" watch and should be regarded as such. You are paying for the decorative value of it (diamonds, hardware, leathers, exotic skins) and definately NOT it's value as a "fine" watch.
I hope that helps.

Exactly, tho I find it interesting that when you go and read the Hermes PR about their watches, they do tout themselves as purveyors of "fine" timepieces. They do seem to work well, so that is "fine" with me;)

Bee Bee, I respect you very much but admittedly the tone of your post was quite rude. You do have a personal distaste of Hermes as well, which I think makes your feelings sound harsher. I hope that makes sense.

I sincerely apologise for the tone then.

Let us get this over. It is either:

1) I am wrong about it and LeCoultre is not a myth and I will apologise to every single lady on this thread by Private Message for each of them

OR

2) I am right and everyone accepts that it is fiction and that is the end of it.

SP, do you think that they reworked the method of gluing the leather pieces together? The SA said that this was the issue behind discontinuing the process. The new bags that I saw were in 2 different colorways. One was oranges/brown,gold and the other was a great looking Canoe in blues/pinks/raisins. The Canoe colorway is pretty much the same as the older vibrato.

bee...bee, i would like to gently suggest that there is a third option -- that some people don't really care. by that i don't mean that your input is unwelcome, but rather that it's not an issue that may matter to some customers. i'm a good example -- i don't collect fine watches, and if i were to purchase an hermes watch it would be for the jewelry factor that japster mentions. so you may be right, the other person may be right, and you may both believe what you say is true. i'm simply uninterested in this point and so i will not spend any time looking into it to confirm her or your conclusions. i note what you've said and file it away for further reference in case it ever becomes relevant to me.

"Gluing" it's not the right word. :smile1: they 're said in french it's " un cuir pressé et coupé". I have already heard that Hermes try to continue this leather. i will try to get more information this WE.
keep you updated

Then this is a good time for me to bow out of this thread because my haughty investment bank trader side was going to press me into creating a poll to vote who was incorrect with her information but since you have given me an opportunity to get out, I will stop to go and cook dinner.

N.B. I do not like the word 'With all due respect,' it has an unnecessary feeling of irony and I am trying very hard to maintain my neutral tone.
:confused1:

I appologise for my improper use of the English language. I was going by this:

with all due respectwith the admiration that is owed. With all due respect, I think there are some facts you have not considered.Usage notes: used to disagree politely with someone
