if your bags are well used and show signs of ripping, tearing, stains, odors, etc, it's unlikely anyone is going to bid and even more unlikely anyone is going to pay any amount of money that matters..

i get so tired of seeing people selling used purses and wallets on ebay that simply have no marketable value.. bags in poor condition are usually destined for the nearest trash can..

i just looked at a coach wallet from the kristin collection.. the wallet is stained, the hardware is scratched, and it has signs of material failure.. even with these admissions in the auction the opening bid is $38...

i can understand why some buy luxury bags with slight defects or that show signs of some use.. i mean youre talking about a significant savings if you can deal with it..

but in most cases listing a bag that should probably be burned in a bonfire is just a waste of your own personal time..

i should also note there are hundreds of thousands of bags for sale at any given time which alone complicates the selling process..

don't sell crap with a handle... this all coming from a guy who happens to love bags btw.. needless to say this particular auction mentioned here has no bidders.

I would like to add to this. I also don’t understand why people list a bag for sale with one or a few blurry photos and a one sentence description.

Even if I am possibly interested in this bag I am not going to bother to contact the seller.

I think every type of bag has a different audience. There are people who don't mind reconditioning bags or who like bags in very honest, worn condition. So long as the price reflects the condition I don't see why someone shouldn't list.

There are some things that bother me and some don't. I can't stand stained, dirty and worn interiors but others are fine with that so long as the outside is fine.

I don't buy anything I can't try on and see the condition IRL so obviously that's not me, but I like that one person's compost is another's treasure, even my post.

I don’t see the issue. Everyone is aloud to list whatever they want for sale and decide on pricing. Let the free market decide whether it’s going to sell or not.
I don't think OP meant it as a 'don't do this', but rather a 'this is why'. My pet peeves about sellers and bags are: No measurements listed, no descriptive info (smells, smoking, perfumes), and just general 'why are you listing this if you aren't going to make an effort to sell it'. As a potential buyer, I don't want to work for the sale, ya know? I don't want to send questions and wait for answers. I'm moving on. :flowers:

This is absolutely my main pet peeve. It seems lazy at best and shady at worst. I just don’t trust it and won’t bother trying to figure out what’s going on.

My second biggest pet peeve is sellers who provide incomplete information and then get irritated by questions or are slow to answer questions. Again, I’ll try once to get answers. If I get any push back / attitude / long waits, I’m no longer interested.

If this is a seller pet peeve thread then.....I usually skip listings with lots of !!!!!! EUC!! Rare!!! Desirable!

It makes me feel like I’m buying from a used car salesman or a twelve year old.
LOL!

"Still has a lot of life in it!"
There's piping coming out of the bottom corners, the lining has a stain that looks like something I saw on CSI, and every piece of hardware is scratched or tarnished or both.

But I think a lot of this is due to all of the people who think they can make a killing reselling bag they found at Goodwill and other thrift stores.

Still has a lot of life left in it, lmao.
That is the intro and staple of vintage Coach bags descriptions where the piping is shredded beyond recognition

The strangest thing I have read in a description was "Has that old closet smell", I couldn't tell if the seller thought that was a good thing or a bad thing.
