Hi folks,

Like most men, I think expensive bags are ridiculous, but to each their own! My wife fell in love with a Prada bag and I'd love to make it happen, but I just can't see myself spending so much on a bag!

Are there ever any deals on these things? I'll admit I've glimpsed over some of the posts here, and it looks like Saks doesn't really have any deals ever.

I live in Arizona, near Scottsdale. I understand there is a Prada store in the mall now. I'm not sure if I would be better off buying it from there or from Saks, but I imagine the Prada store won't cut the price at all.

Any promo codes for Saks that work on Prada bags?

Really appreciate any and all help - trying to make the wifey happy! :p

If you have an NM card, they have been frequently offering triple incircle points and gift cards in tiered rewards.

Also, as the above poster noted you can register for Saks email and they will usually send you a 10% discount code via email within a few days.

Saks currently has a promo code running today online and tomorrow INSTORE for GC with purchase. Looks like you will get a $300 GC for future use with a $2k purchase. You can see the details on Saks.com

Saks recently sent out 15, and 20% off coupons. This isn't too common, but nevertheless, I would subscribe to their emails to stay posted on deals. I would also check the prada board on this forum - there is likely a deals & steals sections for prada bags/items alone in that subforum. Nordstrom will also price match many department store promotions.

There is also ebay - but there are a lot of fakes on ebay, so i would check with the ladies at the prada forum under the "authenticate this" thread to verify if it is real or not.

And the last suggestion I have for you is: you might want to show your wife a few tory burch bags. They also use saffiano leather and some of her styles look very similar to prada bags. They retail around the $500-600 range. (My suggestion is to find a good picture of the bag on google or show her the bags in person, and maybe she will change her mind?!) might be wishful thinking but worth a shot.

Panterka, i did sign up for the Saks email as you suggested; hopefully they send something soon.

authenticplease: I could be wrong, but I think the bag you linked might be different. It's hard for me to tell, they look the same, but since none of these stores use the same SKU #s it's tough. I think the one i posted is a zipper on top vs the one you posted is a button? Dunno!

Elly0216: Thank you for those suggestions! But you know how it is, she has her mind set on Prada! I definitely want to stay away from ebay. I'd really prefer to buy from a store she can return/exchange it at if needed.

i dont think the saffiano lux tote has made it to the sales yet, because it is so popular… i think the saffiano's that have gone on sale are of different shape, like hobo, bowler?, etc

so, if you must make a full priced purchase, your best bet is to wait for the gift card promos (saks, neiman, bergdorf's have those), or buy from bergdorf goodman, since their only store is in new york so you won't have to pay tax

It may be possible to obtain another 10% off by opening a Saks First credit card account. However you should call their customer service first to verify that Prada handbags are not excluded from the Saks First "first purchase" discount.

Ask customer service how the two codes (10% off welcome email + 10% off Saks credit card) can be combined to be sure, but I believe that the saks credit card "first purchase" discount is suppose to show up in your checkout cart and that you have to apply the 10% off email code just before checkout.

BTW the Neiman Marcus version is different. I think that if your wife has made a specific request you should stick with her wanted bag and hopefully both discounts will work in your favor. Seriously don't mess around with that :roflmfao: Happy Wife Happy Marriage :graucho:

I have to agree with this point.

OP, if you have the cash for the bag, just suck it up and buy it. You don't want an unhappy wife at Christmas. :D

I was also going to suggest signing up for a store CC to get the discount with your first purchase. You'll have to do that in-store, but if you could combine that with a coupon then you could save yourself some $$$.
