DE canvas difference - new vs vintage

I bought a Speedy B 25 in Damier Ebene yesterday. I already have a regular Speedy 30 which I bought in 2008, so I guess that’s borderline vintage now!

I was really surprised to notice how different the canvas looks nowadays when I got to compare the two bags at home. Has anyone noticed the same? The canvas on the new Speedy looks much more yellow/orange hued, while the old canvas is dark brown. The leather parts are also surprisingly matte compared to the old one, but I guess that’s mainly due to patina and oils from hands etc. Adding a few photos to show the difference (new bag on the left, old one on the right).

I’m not saying that I don’t like the new bag. Just surprised how much it has changed, and I had somehow thought they wouldn’t change the canvas. Or maybe my old Speedy is just dirty and has aged

I contemplated on getting the new Speedy for a long time. I was afraid it’s gone out of style and buying the same bag in a different size (and with a strap) seemed pointless. However, I needed a crossbody bag that is lightweight, carefree and can fit all my and my kid’s things without being huge or heavy. For that purpose the Speedy B 25 is spot on and I realised how much I like the classic look.

They changed the leather from a glossy warmer brown to a matte version a few years ago. The warmth of the canvas print varies from product to product and batch to batch.
I really liked the old glossy leather, but the warmer canvas looks way nicer on the new Speedy

I love the matte leather trim, it's way better than glossy imo.

At first, I was sad to see the new matte finish on the formerly glossy leather, as the latter seemed more lux to me. But the newer canvas makes up for it.

I have bought quite many LV bags in DE prints (and monogram prints)made from 90s to current, I found even if they were made in the same year or a couple of years apart, the shade of colors, the feel of the canvas and sharpeniss, contrast of prints can be slightLy different, and if you bought a bag has been used a lot or/ and exposed to sun a lot it will effect the look and feel of the canvas too, so it is not exacLy one certain year’s canvas is different to another year’s canvas, and yes, there are some variations
