I'm very excited that I found a reputable local jeweler that can make me a DBTY style necklace. He can do a beautiful, sparkly .30 stone (he had several to choose from) on an 14k white gold chain for about $900...so a huge savings over the necklaces I tried on at Tiffany. He did suggest that I consider the diamond that slides on the chain, rather than the fixed style like of DBTY. He said that the fixed DBTY style tend to ride up and don't stay in place as nicely as one that slides on the chain. I don't know...I tried the DBTY on at Tiffany at was really hoping for that exact style. Of course I didn't wear it long enough to know if it wouldn't stay in place well. So for those who already own a DBTY, does the diamond stay in place nicely for you or is it always riding to the back of your neck?

Also, what length chain do you have? I know they're supposed to be worn on the shorter side but I always feel like a 16 inch chain is like a choker on me. I'm thinking of doing 17 inch. Does anyone have their DBTY longer than 16 in?

I'm really excited about this! I'm just going to decide the exact setting and then dh is going to order this and lay it away for my birthday in October. Something fun to look forward to! :happydance:

Mine is 16" but I have a small neck.
Regarding your main question..I have a .32 fixed and when worn alone it is perfectly fine. Sits great and centered. I hate fussing with moving a clasp to the back too. BUT if you are planning on layering it and wearing it with other necklaces, get sliding. As soon as I added another necklace to my DBTY it constantly spins to one side or the other and is never sitting centered. It bothered me enough I no longer wear it.
