I really want a Petite Albion Ring in amethyst. Should I buy from Neiman Marcus or order it from the DY website? Someone in a previous thread said the quality from an actual DY store is better. What is everyone's opinion on that? Or has the quality of the brand decreased altogether?

Thanks!!!

Have you seen it in person? From my experience the DY rings are very light weight (these days anyway, some said they were better in the past) and almost feel hollow to me. Paying that much for a "hollow" feel silver and semi precious stone, I gave up, and didn't buy any.

I like the petite Albion ring a lot! It doesn't make a difference where you purchase it from, the Yurman store has the same quality Yurman pieces that the department stores have. Yurman from a department store is no way inferior to what is sold in the D.Y. store. One thing to note if your not certain this is the ring that you want is that Yurman stores dont usually allow returns while department stores are more lenient if you have to do a return.

Also, I have always been very satisfied with the quality of Yurman jewelry. If your not sure, just go pick it out in person.

I don't think it matters. I bought my Silver Ice Crossover ring from Nordstroms and they were, as always, very accommodating. I got free sizing and complementary cleaning whenever I need it.

I just came back from a day of shopping in San Francisco and was looking everywhere for this ring! I went to Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus but they didn't have the color. I finally found it at Nordstrom. I was with 2 of my friends and wanted their opinions on if I could pull off such a ring. I wear mostly necklaces and not statement pieces.

So I tried on the ring and showed it to them and they said it wasn't as "blingy" as they thought. I agreed! It was a gorgeous ring. But then I saw the smoky quartz and really fell in love! It was more understated and I could wear it more often. I like the amethyst, but it seemed more showy.

The SA at Nordstrom was really nice too. I'm happy with my purchase and feel somewhat safer buying it from Nordstrom if something were to happen. I'll try to post some pictures later tonight!

Thanks to everyone who responded this thread!

Oh yay! I like this ring a lot, and tried on all of the colors. I think I'll be getting Topaz, but the Amethyst is beautiful, and almost made me change my mind!

I got the petite Albion in Citrine, and I've been wearing it almost daily. It's my first and only Dy piece, so I can't say whether the older or newer pieces are better, but so far my ring is holding up just fine. No complaints. My friend has the Amethyst ring and she had it for a while. She said her only complaint is that there is no "covering" under the stone, so dirt and such gets trapped under there pretty easily. We both got ours at the Dy store. It's true they don't allow exchanges, so I think my next purchase will be from a dept store where they offer free sizing. DY charges $75!
