Dauphine MM - keep or return?

I went into an LV store a couple weeks ago in search of the multi-pochette, which of course they didn’t have. I saw the Dauphine MM, tried it on and LOVED it. I think it’s a nice, classic, versatile bag that I would probably use daily so I purchased it...and now I’m having a bit of buyers remorse! I wasn’t planning/didn’t need to spend that much money!! My bf’s like “keep it, you deserve it, you work hard and always buying for others!” but I’m like that money could’ve paid off 2 of my credit cards (I’m trying to be more financially responsible +build my credit score) or went to some other bills! I definitely think I would get my money’s worth out of the bag as I tend to stick to one purse for a LONG time...I used my Neverfull daily for years, then purchased a YSL LouLou that I’ve been using daily for the past 2yrs. The MP is something I don’t consider an everyday bag but I think it’s so cute. I’m just wondering if I should maybe return the Dauphine for something cheaper that I could also get a lot of use from like maybe the Favorite MM or Santa Monica or the New Wave (which kind of reminds me of my YSL)?? Is the Dauphine considered a “classic”? I also have a Trevi PM that I have barely used that I’m thinking about selling somewhere to offset a small bit of what I spent...is the Trevi considered a classic bag?? Aarrgghhh I don’t know what to do!

I returned mine. Not because I didn't think it was a beautiful bag but because it didn't meet my needs at the moment. Sounds like you. I'd return & get what worked best for my lifestyle and pocketbook.

I tried on the black dauphine today and oh my it is SO beautiful. But I find myself being super picky these days and talk myself out of bags that I am interested in. There is so much to like about this bag but I worried about the smooth leather on the black one and the strap is like the original neo noe strap so there are really only 2 settings on the cross body strap. But it is a stunner. Yours is really pretty but I agree with the others here. If the debt is worrying you return it because there will always be another bag.

How much debt you have, perhaps return it. Only you know your financial situation. Not us.

But to be fair, nothing is consider a “classic” bag. I think the Daulphine is a beautiful handbag though.

I would sell off the Trevi as well, to offset the debt made as well.

It is a beautiful bag. You mentioned it is "worth it" because you will use it daily. I would also think of it as the purse is being charged interest everyday since the cost of the purse can pay off cc debt - interest is very high for ccs. So each month you do not pay off your balance, your purse is costing you more and more (it's like paying for a price increase each month!) Is it worth it then ?

Agree completely with the others. It’s a beautiful bag but listen to your gut which sounds like It’s saying: Pay off your bills, return the bag. Don’t get comfortable with a $3k impulse splurge that you didn’t save for and can’t pay off immediately. it’s a slippery slope. plus the interest on CC debt! Good luck!

As other have mentioned, take a good hard look at your finances. Are you in a position to spend $3k on a bag when you have credit card debt or bills? What are your realistic priorities at this point in time?

Yes, the bag is beautiful but is it worth your financial stability?

I'm the odd one out here. If you love it and will use it every day, then keep it. Life is short. I am not advising that you go into hock and lose your house/car over it, because if finances were that bad, then yes you have to return it. Just tell yourself no more splurges now until you get some cards paid off.

Sell the Trevi and put it to your existing credit card debt. See if there are other things you are not using that you can sell and apply to the outstanding balances on your cards. I wouldn't purchase another bag if you love this one to death because it just won't compare.
