my friend's mom bought a bag from the LV store. but the bag doesn't come with the date code, so she sent the bag to LV asia pacific center at HK for identification and the bag was returned marked as authentic ALTHOUGH it didn't came with the date code.

this is what the representative said on the email

Dear Mrs ...,

We would like to thank you for your visit on our web site and your
interest in Louis Vuitton.

Please note that as Louis Vuitton does not stamp serial numbers as a
means of identification, the only way to guarantee you are purchasing an
authentic item is to purchase through a Louis Vuitton store, or the
websites eLuxury.com and louisvuitton.com.

We are looking forward to your next visit on our web site,
www.louisvuitton.com

Yours sincerely,

A serial number is different than a date code. If she asked about a serial number that would be the correct response. Virtually all LV bags do indeed have date codes. They do not have serial numbers though and that is correct in the e-mail. If she sent the bag, why didn't she get a letter instead of an e-mail? I'm confused.
