I love JCrews coats and will be purchasing one on my trip back to the US in a few weeks since I currently live in Europe and will be unable to when it is actually cold. Anyway, I wear dark jeans and pants most the time with my jeans tucked into black boots. I really like the Light Pewter coat (http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/Wom...ategory/outerwear/wool/PRDOVR~17506/17506.jsp) but should I go with black b/c the contrast will be too much. All light from neck down to above knees then super dark?

I really don't think it matters. Kate Moss for instance wears a Burberry trench with dark tights, shoes etc and I think it looks alright.

The cut of the JCrew coat is beautiful, very classic. I say go for it.

The light pewter would be very versatile as you could wear during the winter and any really cold days in Spring.

Hope this helps.

That coat is beautiful! And it's not too much of a contrast

I should warn you though, if you're wearing dark jeans with it you risk having the denim color rub off on your coat.
