I want a briefcase that will last many years. Members of this forum told me that LV canvas is almost indestructible -- after a lot of thought I realised I don't want extra attention that comes with LV canvas. Therefore, I'd rather pay extra and get a leather bag.

Some bags that I like are made of Damier Infini. I read on this forum that it does not last long for wallets -- it creases and peels, apparently. What about bags? Does it hold up well? What is the strongest LV leather? Should I also consider Prada nylon or leather briefcases?

Épi, hands down. Damier Infini and Monogram Shadow are very delicate, soft leathers. Taïga and Taurillon are also nice and more durable options, I believe they are way stronger than Infini, but Épi feels the toughest and it is classic Louis Vuitton.

If you visit the boutique, you can definitely already see creases on the Damier Infini. If you care about it, you will not want to put heavy stuffs in it. Though I think a bag organiser might help, that is if you can find one for your choice of bag.

I also really want a Damier Infini though.

I like Damier Infini leather. It very soft and delicate leather. Don’t treat this too rough or it will end up not good looking overtime.

I very enjoy mine in the pocket organizer form. Soft, smooth to touch. I use it moderately. So far no issues.

Thanks a lot everyone. Unfortunately there are not many options in Epi where I live (Sydney) -- just Oliver and Dandy, and they're a bit too big. I went to a store and checked out Damier Infini in person -- indeed it had some creases, so I decided against it. I also checked Prada Saffiano leather, and it looked pretty good -- guess I should ask about it on the Prada forum though.

What about LV Taurillon leather? It very top notch soft and durable leather. The Armand and Dandy PM are similar size to Avenue Soft Briefcase.
LV used to offer Port Document Jour in Epi. I just notice it gone off the online catalogue. Which is such a shame! :/

If the price deter you from Taurillon leather, Prada is okay. At least their color choice for the briefcases are excellent! I have their keyholder in saffiano leather. That leather is durable but it scuff easily. Sound to me it on par with LV Taiga leather. If Prada offer briefcases in their Daino leather, do not skip on them!

Taurillon is indeed a bit outside of my budget :-) Thanks for letting me know it's durable though -- I might change my mind about the budget if I manage to find the bag online (doesn't look like the official website has got it in stock).

a year late to this party
From the time DI was introduced I have had a Tadao GM and a Porte Documents Jour - so both now some years old, with no signs of wear.
They both have a thick canvas inner that prevents what you might describe as 'poke through'.
